5 PROFIT!

Anywho I use General Hydroponics, however I have nothing to compare to.

If you're a noob go with something easy and simple like GH. It's not expensive and will get you started. Get a couple successful grows under your belt before you start spending big money on nutes. Thats my opinion. Oh yeah and in DWC keep that water under 70 or you will be in big trouble.

Bigelephant: if you have a pH test kit and a set of measuring spoons I'd recommend Technaflora's, "Recipe for Success." I started using them about three years ago and I haven't had any of the nutes problems you read about here. HSA

Supernatural Grow Aqua & Bloom Aqua.
It's made just for hydro, It's Ph buffered so you won't have huge swings in Ph, It already has Cal & Mag, It's cheep a little goes along way, It's in powder form so it stores longer, I run my veg without a water chiller and have had no problems with my roots (I wash & wipe clean my totes between rez changes) in 76+*F h2o temps. I would suggest using chem nutes if you cant keep your rez temps at >70*F.
Supernatural came in second in a side by side nute challenge testing yield using all major brands.

Happy growing

Everyone likes certain brands. It's almost like asking which is better? Pepsi or Coke?

edit: General Hydroponics =D

As stated above I would start with a simple 1 part nutrient something that has everything in it, that way you can get a good understanding of your water chemistry and how to control it. If your going to use tap water I would suggest sticking with the one part nute, if not then you will need to supplement cal and mag. Basically your question is pretty open ended and you are sure to get many opinions on this topic especially here. One thing I will caution you on is using some of the magic sauces with secret ingredients, you should stay away from anything that doesn't have an MSDS. Also don't buy into any of the advertising because nute companies know that pot growers are suckers, stick to what is tried and true. If your interested in organics I urge you to wait until you have a good understanding of water chemistry as it is relevant to growing because this will make a world of difference for you. Good luck and happy growing.

BTW Maxi-bloom is a good one part all inclusive fert that will get you through a grow from start to finish but your results may not be as good as using more advanced formulas and ratios. If you want to read about this stuff research the KISS method, it really is that simple. I have used this product many years and still use it sometimes to this day on mother plants because it is so cheap.
