Question on surface irrigation

Alright this will be my first time guerilla growing, I live in europe anyways i was scouting out potential grow spots and found a nice and secluded pond deep in a forest on neigboring property, What I was wondering is if the type of irrigation described in the picture would work?It would mean of course digging but i just want some input on it. I want to use an irrigation system because I wont be able to follow the plants all summer long, thank you in advance for help.

I think this is a decent idea, but I think until the plant develops a strong root structure, you are going to need to externally water it. If you are just planting 2 plants, you could try a drip watering system or buying a small battery pump to pump the water from the water source to the plants.
Regardless, I think this is a solid idea and it should at least increase the time between waterings.
