Questions about dabbing

So i was under the impression that dabbing on materials other than titanium, glass or quartz was bad for your health. I have a metal joint piece here, its hard to explain. But it works perfect as a bowl, yet is obviously not made of any of the above materials ahha. Is it harzardous to me to heat this with a torch and dab off it? I mean, people use plain old butter knives and inhale oil off them. Is there a big difference? Anything will help guys so thanks in advance

Let it go you will hurt yourself torching what I think your torching, long long ago I had that thought myself..... then got real and swallowed the cost of the sport, why get rid of plant material just to introduce new harmful components which didn't previously exist. It's the temp of the torch that's gunna make that metal joint offgas, it's far beyond what your doing to it with a lighter.

If you've ever hot knifed using a butter knife, you know that you can strongly taste the metal ions coming off. Ti is used, because after forming a protective alpha case, it is highly inert, and borosilicate or quartz, because they are relatively inert as well, though I can taste the hot glass.

In a real pinch...

Do an old-school DIY vaporizer...

The light bulb trick..

Works like an oil burner..
Carefully push in the socket of the bulb and pull out the filament..

Now, pour a bit of table salt into the bulb and swirl around...this will remove the ” coating” inside the bulb that softens the light that it emits...then wash it out with soap and water..

Hold the bulb upside down and put a dab in the middle..
Use a wick style flame (no torch) to heat the bulb from underneath, heating the oil..

Suck up the vapor using a pen tube, or any tube..

old school meth pipe..
But would work in a pinch..

Not really recommended, but it's much better option than heating an unknown metals.

I would not recommend it unless you know what metal you are heating that hot. Personally you can get Quartz nails and such for less than $10. $20 for the dome kit.

If you really care about what you are heating up I'd recommend a ceramic domeless nail. I was lucky to score one (Seen below on my Silika 14mm Mini Oil Recycler) from a head shop as they are tough to get, but "HIVE Ceramics" just released their heavily anticipated line of ceramic nails and tools. I don't know when the HIVE shop will launch to customers, if ever, but head shops all around have placed orders and should have them in a month or two.

Ok those ceramics's are ILL, now that's all grand but does it taste? I hated every piece of quartz i've tried, it all tasted like hot glass which I don't know how people don't notice. I know everytime i get the urge to mess with one of those globe pen vape things with the ceramic insert it breaks when i torch it to clean the wick n wire of factory nasties. So all i've ever done is break ceramic with torches so Im really interested. The videos of it self cleaning look great, but all i care about it taste and my He'Ti has just become the budweiser norm.

Once they are seasoned, Quartz and Ti don't give off that taste. I know exactly what you are talking about with the quartz. All vape pens taste like crap to me.

I've been told the Hives taste good and don't require seasoning. But have also been told they break like crazy from heat stress. They are avail at various shops and some online stores. I'm gonnna try their shit out soon, interested in the dome-less with carb cap and the melt paddle.
