questions about pot spacing, plant height with air pots

I'd appreciate any input you could give on any of the following:
Is it possible to keep plant growth mostly vertical to fit more plants into a grow space and minimize pot spacing between plants? an idea that comes to mind would be to tie the lateral branches towards the main stem?
what volume air pot would be needed for a 1.1m tall plant? I've heard larger plants can be grown with smaller air pots compared to normal pots. Take for example a strain that leans more sativa (I'm assuming sativa grows taller in the same size pot because there's less lateral growth). And also, how tall could these plants grow in a 3litre (0.8gallon) air pot? I assume nowhere near 1.1m but I can get this pot size cheap so I'm curious.

If there's any good resources that explain any of this, feel free to share. Only resource I've found so far is the growweedeasy site, but his page on pot sizes contradicts what I've read elsewhere online (he recommends you get a LARGER air pot than you would for an equivalent plant in a normal pot) and he doesn't touch on a lot of this.

Thanks.

There are grow diaries that show people growing trees in 1 gallon pots of coco, but keep in mind they are feeding 5 times per day, that size pot dries super fast. I think what you are seeing is that air pots don't match up with the 1, 3, 5, 7 gallon sizes we are used to, the air pot "equivalent" is always smaller. I have "5 gallon" air pots but I'm pretty sure they are 3.5 or 4 gallon, not sure-maybe they go by liters? Anyway, you would need around a 3 gallon air pot for what you want, but the bigger ones would be fine too. Really depends on how often you want to water, though I think you will be looking at watering twice per day at minimum with either of those sizes (once the plant grows up and fills out the pot, that is.) I use those .8 gallon air pots to veg in after they fill out a solo cup, then I transfer to the bigger pot a week or two before flip, so they have time to fill out the new containers.

you can manually defoliate /lollipop to remove side growth and get just a main cola. but ideally you want a strain that has a "cornstalk" pheno that does this naturally.

I can get 3.4gallon air-pots, so I'll use those, thanks. My original plans were far too complicated anyway. And I should be able to set up a drip system if it comes to that.

which strains have a more cornstalky pheno? I'm not sure what terms to search for this kind of information.

it's a rare one since most ppl want bushier plants. I found some corn stalk phenos in some BOG SourBubble. i know there are other strains with this too but you would have to research. sometimes its just a result of pheno hunting and popping a pack to find the one or 2 seeds with the structure you are looking for.
