Questions about pots!

I've been doing some reading around the forum and various other places, but still unsure about whether to go with plastic pots / fabric pots or airpots for my next grow. I've already got a bunch of different sized fabric pots but now unsure whether I should stick with those or go to airpots? (I'm likely going to use a small plastic pot for seedling to early veg. So my questions are:

Are fabric / airpots designed so you take the whole pot and put it into a bigger pot? Does anyone do this? From photos, it looks like the airpots don't really allow for moving once the roots are coming out of the sides so assume you just put them into a bigger airpot? Likewise for fabric, I assume the roots will push through the outside of the pot - do I transplant them or just put them in bigger pots?

As a backup, I'll possibly grow mostly in a plastic disposable pot and then transplant into one large fabric pot for late veg / flowering? Is this a viable option?
 
I like air pots or fabric pots. Simply because I can be sloppy with my watering and its less likely to cause an issue.
 
I think the air pots come apart so you don’t damage the roots. I don’t think I would bury a fabric pot. Just have to watch when to transplant.
 
Ive seen fabric pots the size of solo cups, which you can transplant in. With the bigger smart pots, you cant transplant. Grow in plastic and then transplant to the final container size in an air/smart pot

Ive done this too, its a solid plan.
 
Ive been growing in fabric pots, outdoor in the south east heat and weather and they are just as good as the day i purchased them. The key is to elevate the bottom for run off and airflow
 
I've never used fabric pots, it's difficult enough trying to control rh% without wet/damp pots added to the problem.
Air pots are fantastic and I'm sure fabric is to but imo not for indoor growing.

Problems with air pots.

I am currently using 3 gallon air pots, you know the ones with all the holes in them. I knew this would be a problem but I thought the benefits would out weigh the aggravation. Does anyone have a solution to keep water from running out the holes all around the sides when you water? I thought...

PS be weary who you buy felt/ fabric pots from. Some vendors say 3 gallon and actually they measure to be a little over 2.5. Buy from a reputable seller and name brand.
 
Brill, thanks for the replies. I think i'll grow till mid-veg and then transplant to a large fabric pot cos that's what I have. If it's too much of a pain in the ass, I won't to it again. :D
 
Equal opportunity organic soil auto grower and yes, air pots are easily assembled and opened with two plastic screws and can be combined and reduced as well.

Does anyone know if you can buy the screws separately?
I turned the place upside down trying to find 4 of the ltr sized pot screws, there a good bit smaller than the regular ones.
