Questions on cloning

1. How old should a mother be before you can clone her or take a clipping for cloning?
2. How many clippings can you take from a mother in one pruning session?
3. How long does the mother need to go between a clipping before you can clip her again?
4. Should the clipping be a certain size?
5. How long after I take the clone until I can switch to flower? Is there an optimum amount of time to veg a clone?

1. 8-10 nodes
2. Half the total nodes.
3. 4 weeks.
4. 3-5 nodes
5. Depends on how big you want the plant. At least 5-6 nodes.

I've been following these guidelines for 4 years with no issues. YMMV.

*by nodes i mean single growth tips off the main stem (not double, adjacent growths) since clones grow staggered.

Great advice

While I concur with deadgro, I also want to add you are thinking too much. If she has the cuttings available and you get how a plant grows, have at her. I have done LST to get lots of tops for clones, cut a bunch off one plant, and she never seemed any for the worse.

For moms, you are better off using a plant that is at least 5 months old. I have had some issues with clones that were cut from moms that were too young. The clones take, but they took much longer to root. It could have been the strain, but it was a noticeable difference.
