Questions On Inducing Flowering

hey all,

well considering i have 2 plants in each pot and i only have a 250w hps... i want to keep them as short as possible so i want to induce flowering like...on the next dark cycle... but im kind of confused

i have the lights on a 18/6 schedule being lights off at 4 am and lights on at 10 am

whats the best way to go about changing the light cycle? should i just make it go from 4pm to 4 am? or from 10pm to 10 am? or... im kind of confused cause this is as far as ive ever gotten in a grow before i feel the plants are healthy enough to start flowering them? should i give them any certain amount of darkness or light before i put them into 12 12?

another questions is 59º to cold for the dark period?


i really am nervous lol and very excited im really hoping i get 1 male in each pot but i doubt it lol heres a couple pics ... let me know if they look good to start flowering

59 is too cold, you dont want your dark cycle that cold. It forces the plant to 'stall' out. Instead, try running your 'dark cycle' through the daytime hours so it helps to keep your temps in line.

Honestly, you need to wait before flipping to 12/12. With only 4 total, unsexed plants, and being that small... if you flipped now and ended up with 2 females they still wouldn't produce much bud. Wait until you have at-least 4 or 5 nodes before the flip.

EDIT: When you are ready to go into flowering, just change your on/off timer to 12/12. Dont worry about the time of day, or amount of darkness before the first 12 hours on and 12 hours off. It wont matter.

if you're worried about the temps, you should put the lights on 12 hours during the night and cold, then lights out during the warm day. will come in handy when the weather gets hot too.

you can go ahead and throw them into flower. they will continue to stretch out and "veg" until sexual maturity.

36n hours strait dark and then start them at 10-10, hope that helps ya.

hmm... ok so 59 is to cold... thats lowest it has gotten it usually stays right at about 60-61 during dark.. but two differing opinions on whether to do it now or not hmm

the only reason im worried about waiting to put them into flowering is because i only have the 250w hps and the person that gave it to me said it made his buds fluffy and airy... i want to keep them as short as possible with the light as close as possible

Try a method of growing that keeps the canopy of the plants even like LST or SCRoG. You'll get the most out of your 250w without worrying about out growing you light.

Personally on when to start flowering, id recomend you continue to veg, (wether its lst, scrog, or neither) just to get use to keeping your plants healthy as they get bigger. Id say veg another 30 days then flip. If you lst or scrog (now would be a perfect time to start either of them) you'll eliminate outgrowing your light so you don't get fluffy bud, you'll maximize your yeild, and you can veg a lot longer to get confortable and confident growing. If you choose not to try either methods, understandable I still recomend the same thing just veg another 20 days or so. They stretch like crazy when you flip.
