Questions on Winterizing small batches

Hey guys, still pretty new to the bho game. Bought a vac and have made some pretty looking stuff. I noticed i can't pull the waxes out and it's killing my lungs. So I'm going to start winterizing. I do personal runs and pull about 2.5 grams of raw bho..

I'm most confused on how to actually add the everclear so I have A couple of questions:

Am I supposed to wait until the butane dissolves then scrape then add the everclear?

Or do I add the everclear right before the butane boils out completely?

How much everclear do I use per gram?

Should I put some iso in the bottom of my Pyrex? it seems that the oil would be easier to work with. And I would def use 99%

..I feel like I'm complicating it, just don't wanna lose anything

i -only- make winterized oil, and with a lot of runs under my belt, here is what i do every single time, and my results are always pro.

Blast your butane into a pyrex as usual (i use a measuring cup instead of a baking dish) - note the amount of butane you blast. Example if you run through 200 ML (as indicated on the pyrex measuring cup after blasting)- then take another measuring cup and measure 100 ML of 190 proof everclear. 2:1 butane - everclear. Slowly pour it in, and wait for it to stop reacting. For a small amount like 200:100 it can take as much as an hour to completely react and purge all the butane. You'll know when it's done because you added 100 ML of everclear, so when your liquid level is 100ML approx - it's done ie: all the butane has been purged. Also you'll see when all the reacting stops.

nevermind blasting INTO everclear or letting some butane purge off first - there is no point in doing any of this except if you want to take your methods that COULD be somewhat scientific using measuring and just throw that out the window for more of a guessing game.

good luck :)

edit: just re-read my post and i sound like a know-it-all prick in it - i'm not trying to come off this way, ive just answered this question in about 10 million threads :)

edit2: you mention everclear then you also mention iso.. not sure what you're on about but You want 190 proof everclear or if you can get it 100% pure ethyl alcohol ( i use 190 proof everclear)... iso isn't needed unless you're using 99% iso INSTEAD of the everclear (and if you do - its not as good)

When blasting, do you heat your measuring cup? I saw a video where the guy blasted his tane, poured in The everclear then set the cup in a hot water bath at 100 degrees to speed up the purge.

Does this process sound right?

..you don't sound like a prick at all. I appreciate you taking the time to help a newb out. I'm sososo tired of smoking permagoo with a bunch of waxes still in it.

The ISO, was just an idea I heard to make sure you dont miss any oil or something like that.

I've noticed that after all my butane is gone I have a layer of oil stuck to the bottom of my Pyrex , will the ethanol pull this up for me? Or do I need to physically scrape it first?
Washing off of the resin film from dishes is very uncomfortable,
too much open surface to evaporate the alcohol and absorption of atmospheric moisture.

It is more convenient to wash, when the resin film coating on interior surface of the circular or conical vessel,
such as Pyrex-kettle.

Then you can shake or heat up alcohol for rapid dissolution, and then put it in the freezer.

You can evap with heat, but you will lose terps. Evap at room temp. It may take longer than 24 hrs. but is well worth the wait. Then transfer to vac chamber. Goalies method rocks. It is what I use.

Nope i don't heat anything. I blast butane into the measuring cup, pour the everclear in slowly, and just let it react. No heat. Just patience.

Last night it took close to 1.5 hours to purge 300ml butane with 150ml everclear. Sometimes its faster sometimes longer, but this was about a 112g run.

Here is the previous 103g run using the same methods. Im now questioning whether its 100% purged because it has that tiny sweet taste that i like, but honestly im not sure i care, cuz maybe im the heisenberg of errl or something. I know the butane is gone, all that could be left is water or everclear..if anything. This is around a 19g slab.

p.s. this is only around 3 hours of purging total . I have a bit of it in the vac now while at work (small piece) want to experiment with 9-10 hours with the chamber holding full vac and see what happens. (its at 95f at home now)

Nice, so let me get this straight..

You blast your tane, and as soon you get done blasting you pour in the everclear?

I def won't be using any heat until the vacuum purge. Your oil looks amazing, what's the max temp you go when vacuuming?

no freeze and filter? it seems yall are just using the Etoh too help purge the butane
what about filtering the waxes?
That's not part of the question. I understand how I'm supposed to filter it out after it's done. I couldn't figure out the appropriate time to add the everclear. It seems to me that it goes in right after shooting according to goalie.

Correct.

I usually go max 115-120. Often times less.

Everyone is different. I have heard people warm it up, i've heard people warm up the everclear and then blast INTO the warm everclear, i've heard people blast butane, heat bathed some, and THEN added everclear... All of these methods except for the last don't allow you to easily know how much butane you're using, and therefore how much everclear to use. I choose my method simply because it allows me to know exactly how much butane i have and hence how much everclear. Not to mention i've been pretty successful so far with said method.

I love the blue patty goalie.
And yes the great thing about this process is the only thing that could be left is everclear, or water. Neither of which will hurt you if vaped. Ethanol will just give a bit of a sweet taste. Like I have said many time ethanol is what a lot of e-cig companies use in their juice mixes.

just making sure
Didn't mean To sound like a dick, I just couldnt seem to find an answer to the questions I had no matter where I looked, which Is why I made this thread. I'll be doing my first winterized batch tonight and want to have everything just right.
