quick hps distance question

i'm limited with height for growing but i'd like to get a HPS for flowering.. maybe just a 150w hps.

how close can you get a hps to your plants? i know the answer is on the site but the search feature won't search hps and other 3 letter words.

can you get it really close if you keep it cool enough? or is it the light power that burns the plants?

i guess i just need to know the closest i can get it.

thanks

hmm, for a 150w hps as long as you keep airflow between the light and plant or keep the bulb cool, i'd say no less than 6 inches.

Using a 150watt hps id say no more than 10 inches, possibly less Im not to experienced with a 150watt as i use 400 watts and i keep mine about 12-15 inches at all times. Good luck :joint::peace::peace::peace:

Put your hand at the top of your canopy. If it feels too warm to keep your hand there for a prolonged period of time, then the light is too close. It's also a good idea to get a thermometer for both the canopy and the root area so you can always know if your lights are too close.
