Hi, I don't post much (at all) but I've been lurking around the forum for a while. I thought about posting this in the newbie section but didn't want to get advice from somebody with as much experience as myself. Anyways, I germinated three of five seeds I bought, they're dutch passion skunk # 11 feminized. They must have been good seeds cause all three germinated in two days and sprouted in a next two. I have them under two fluorescent tubes in my closet that you'll see in the pics. As far as nutrients go, the best I found was a 15-6-6 and a 10-15-10 (I just found a place in Toronto where I could buy the fox farm nutes so I'll do that - I still have a week or two before I start using them anyways). And I have a fan in the room. Aside from raising the third plant to the level of the other two and lowering the light a bit, that's what my setup is like right now. The middle of the light seems to be the most intense, because the two outside plants keep bending towards it. I've just dealt with it by turning the plants and they kind of even themselves out then bend to the other side, at which point I'd turn them again. I'm wondering if that's stressful to the plant and I should just let them grow towards it, or keep doing what I'm doing (I realize either option is a compromise, it's only until I can buy a HPS). Also, if anybody has experience with skunk # 11 I'd appreciate a tip.
Ideally, I'd like to clone the best of the three and constantly have around 8 plants at different stages of flowering. Realistically for this grow I'll be happy as hell if I can cop just under an ounce per plant. Sorry about the poor photo quality and thanks in advance.

bro u can take it all the way with cfls. try it. the big boy lights require you to watch the temp. bunch of cfls and a small fan will work best on a budget.

hope the best of grow for ya.

I'm assuming you found your nutes at Bustan... Good shop great people, but overpriced nutes make me shop elsewhere even if its shipped in (still cheaper)....

I veg under 6x40w CFLS, cool and warm whites with no problems and I shift mine around now again when needed.

Yeah it was Bustan that I found them at, I can't order online cause if I got a credit card I know I'd go nuts with it, I'll pay a bit more in store. I'll just buy a bunch of CFLs and save some money. thanks for the advice

your worried about them bending? thats actualy good for them, its like us doing sit-ups. strengthens their main stem up for more support.

P.S. move those lights closer, floro's dont produce heat, and not much light ether. 3-5 in. away from the plants should be far enough.

It's not harmful to turn them.The bending back and forth might be good for the stem.I know you don't have a credit card,but you may be able to get a prepaid one and use that at htg...or maybe even call their 800 number and pay by check or money order.Cfl's will grow a plant, but from personal experience, having tried both, I like HID lighting.Even the 150 watt hps I had outdid all the cfls I had used in my first grow. 150 watts is small,but I only grew one plant with it.You could do two, I think, with just a couple of supplemental flourescents.I have a 400 watt light, but right now, my grow space is not set up properly to get rid of the heat that thing gives off.Here are both lights I own.The 150...http://www.htgsupply.com/growlights.asp?categoryID=1&subcategoryID=155&typeID=84 and the 400....http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=47929 both come with a reflector, bulb, and ballast...just assemble the reflector, insert bulb, hang light, and plug it in. The 400 watter I got also came with a timer, and I ordered a switchable mh bulb for veg. I like these lights because there's no wiring, and it's all really simple to use.

You're not stressing the plants by turning them, but they are reaching for he light for a reason, and may end up stretching. Maybe shuffling them - move the ones on the end to the center in rotation - would be better, than turning the plant away from the light.

Those nutes are fine for growth and flower, but I would try to get a 0 nitrogen bloom nute for the last few weeks of flower. Higher N in veg. Higher P in the second week of flower. 0 N in late flower. Flush the final week or 2, when they look done.

Floros are fine for vegetative, and I've had plants grow right into the tubes without burning. You can keep them 1- 2" away, but you'll probably have to raise the lights each day. CFL's are more intense and hotter, but still not very good for flower. If you plan to use floro throughout the grow, go with 2700k CFL's, but keep the distance 5" or so.

I've got the light about 2-3 inches from the plants now, and i think i'll buy a 150 watt if I end up having more than three plants but for now I'll stick with CFLs. I just bought a timer, then saw that it had no third "electricity prong" for lack of the correct word so I couldn't plug the light in. And I'm gonna go with the fox farm bloom boosters and the nutes I have now. Thanks again everybody.
