The legedary dimebag Darrel was killed 8 years ago today. Let's all do a shot of whiskey in his honor. R.I.p Dime, see you on the other side.
 
Dime was and still is a hero figure to me,inspired me to pick up the guitar!Crown and coke tonight for sure!R.I.P.Dime your sorely missed.

I`m sitting in the same place reading this as I was when I read that he died that night.
Can`t say I`m a huge fan but it was such a shocking scenario that it stuck with me.
Tragically stupid. R.I.P
 
I am a very huge fan. Even have the cowboys from Hell symbol tattooed on the side of my head. Was supposed to be at that show but my buddy cancelled last minute and I didn't wanna go alone. God I miss dime.
 
Crazy fan who claims pantera stole songs that he had written came into a small concert hall here with a gun, rushed the stage and shot him. Also killed two or three audience members and injured a few more. He hopped the fence out back where the smoking area is that's how he got the gun in.
 
I never heard that. I heard the nutjob was pissed because he blamed Dimebag for the breakup of the singer of Panterra. Either way the cops blew him away as well
 
I remember hearing about the "Damage Plan" guitarist being shot. Not connecting it, cuz I wasn't into them, I didn't think anything of it. A few days later on the news there was a pic of Dime and had his birth and death date, and I was like WTF!! I couldn't believe it. It was like hearing about someone I new personally. Dime was a huge influence, and Pantera was the first heavy heavy metal band I got into. Opened the doors to a whole new realm for me.

Look at this guy, so relaxed, all by himself, no band. The guitarist for Nile (normally a great player) cracked under the pressure of being under the scope. Some folks can't stand alone.

Haha been there done that. Security at this particular place still sucks. Cool story tho.......late October I was at this venue with my roommate to see hed pe. I never miss them. Anyway Jarrod the lead singer of hed was wearing a shirt with pics of dimebag all over it that said " dime lives" at the top. Turns out he personally made it. So after the set I'm getting a hed shirt getting pics with Jarrod ( he's an awesome dude real fan based) when he noticesmy tattoo. Says I must be a huge fan to sit through a head tattoo, removes the shirt, and says I deserved it. I don't even wear it I have it hanging on the wall.
