So here is the deal RIU I just bought some buckets and airstones etc, and im here to verify a few things!

First off for the bucket literally all I have to do is drill a hole for my airtube, correct? Should I place the airstone at the very bottom or middle?

Secondly how close do I top the resovoir (5 gallon bucket)? like literally right above the water line, so it splashes the roots, or does the rock wool need to be really close to the water. In other words it has a small root mass right now, so will the roots grow fully into the water, does that mean I must lower the level, cant they 'drown'?

well ya see but my main question now is the water level, how far do I fill the buckets up to? I have made a hole for my airstone on the second ring of a 5 gallon bucket, so should it be filled to almost the top, below the hole for the tubing?

Keep the rock wool above the water and hand pore for a couple days, its what I dohigh times 016.jpghigh times 017.jpghigh times 013.jpglet a couple roots grow down into the water then lower the water level to a inch or two under the net pot. the air bubbles will pop and splash nutes onto the roots and soiless media.hope that helps best of luck and happy growing!!!

Smokeajoe: That's adequately covered in the following resources: I wish there was an easier way, but from what you ask, I think you might be new to this so I’d suggest the following:
1. Read: SeeMoreBud’s book, “MARIJUANA BUDS FOR LESS- GROW 8 OZ. OF BUDS FOR LESS THAN $100.”
2. Read: Jorge Cervantes’s book, “MARIJUANA HORTICULTURE THE INDOOR/OUTDOOR MEDICAL GROWER’S BIBLE.”
3. Read: Ed Rosenthal’s, “MARIJUANA GROWER’S HANDBOOK.”
4. You’ll also want to read: Mc Carthy’s book, “GROWING MARIJUANA.”
5. You should also subscribe to, “HIGH TIMES,” magazine. Each issue is chocked full of useful information. .” All these resources are very well written, well illustrated and packed with information that will answer most of your questions before you know to ask them. And I want to add a new book to the list, a 6[SUP]th[/SUP] one: “THE CANNABIS GROW BIBLE- SECOND EDITION,” written by Greg Green. It’s a match to, if not better than, the ones listed above. Doing your homework and consulting these resources will save you and your plants a lot of anxiety before you plant. I hope this helps.

thanks for all your advise, I have never done DWC, only flood and drain, regardless-I did the transplant, filled my 5 gallon buckets with probably 3.5 gallons, then I filled the 10' net pots with a little base of hydroton, the bottom hydroton was getting splashed and damp, im going to gently water with some ph water.

I don't drill my holes, I simply heat up a crappy screwdriver that is the width of the hose and just melt my holes... They come out super clean and leave little to no mess when doing it.
