Ready to harvest, Trichomes arent turning gold?

Hello everyone.
This is my second attempt and things are starting to fail like they did the first time. Everything was dandy up until close to harvest time, then things start going south.
The fan leaves have all died on some of them and the leaves around the cola's are dieing as well. All the hairs have turned brown and the buds have compacted but the trichomes still havent turned golden.



What to do? Should i just chop them down? I put them in a closet for 48hrs of darkness to try to coax them into turning golden so i can harvest, but no luck.

Any hippies care to weigh in?

Dude chop that thing, it looks like you had some severe problems that led to stunting late in flower (nute burn it looks like), it's not getting any riper.

Hmm.. i havent fed them any nutes for over a month. So it would have to be a nute deficiency as i dont think there can be much nutes left in the soil.
I just wish i could figure out these "severe problems" before it happens to the rest of the plants ><

The problems must have happened earlier maybe 2-3 weeks ago, this is not a current problem, but the fact that the plant has no green left to produce anything else. I've had a plants get late nutrient burn (or extreme deficiencies) and never 'finish'. It's really too hard to tell at this point what the problem may have been, but that plant has nothing left to give.

What were your temps/Humidity?
What soil are you using?
Are you adding nutes?

Biggest indicator of problems in flower is leaf tips yellowing, whether that be defficiencies in cal/mag/K/over-nutrients. Next plant you have, if you see any leaf tips go yellow before like week 4-5 of flower find someone that you like and respect on RIU and message them (or a couple of them)

I'm new at this myself, most of my knowledge comes from a tiny bit of experience, a couple of good friends, magazines, and Ed Rosenthals book. Consistantly i have read and been told that you don't want the trichomes to turn ("gold") amber, but that you should watch for them to begin to be cloudy. I think they also said that a jewelers loupe at 30+ power would help to see this. And that gold was past the time for harvest. As well the plants should be flushed for best flavours and removal of all nutes. The plant would then strip all of the nutes from available leaves, giving the appearance of "dying", as is the case with all other agricultural crops, the fruits ripen as the plant gives up its life for the fruit. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.

To be more specific its the glands on the plant that go from Clear to milky to amber. Once they reach amber its at the peak. But not everyone waits til amber depending on the case or persons... You get different reactions to each stage in this flower process with the glands... White or clear tend to be a HEAD high, while milky is a mix of both body and head, and amber is full body (couch lock).

As far as that plant... That thing has a multitude of issues. It is definitely time to chop it... and since you haven't added nutrients I am assuming you have been flushing it?
Looks like an Indica... you need fuller veg time before going into flowering. Not enough plant to support the bud...
And do the leaves crumble?
Cause I believe you are just burning the plant. Lack of environmental care... Such as Co2, Humidity, and air exchange...Looks choked...
Next time try raising the humidity levels in the veg and let it get full and lush before the flip to flower...
But just shooting in the dark with little info...

try writing down your info and changes... trial and error and some updated info can help that. For example maybe you experienced a change in PH one week and never corrected it and this was the end result...

why did you remove all the fan leaves? those are key to healthy grows.
