ok im downsizing container sizes to add more plants since ive recently re-routed my schedule to allow me to water more often and spend more time with the girls.
Im doing a sog soil grow and i am going to use 2 liter bottles cut open for containers (was using gallon jugs because i couldent water but every 2-3 days)
I have about three or three and a half square foot of canopy light coverage coming off my hps
if i remember my high school math correctly then a square foot is about 144 square inches of space. meaning that 3ft of square space has 432 square inches of available space?
now im trying to remember how to do this part but im only drawing a blank. I want to make each plant have 5 inches of empty space around the plant in every direction so the plant has room to grow to a decent size (im only shooting for a half ounce to2/3 ounce each- is this reasonable with this idea of smaller containers)
im thinking that rows of space between plants being 5in apart from plants=25insquared per row.that is going to leave me 17rows to work with
i am thinking of placing plants in a masonry brick laying pattern on the floor like this

so i figured 3 plants to the first row and then every other alternating row only have 2 plants?
my calculations arrived at 42 plants, and i dont think there is anyway that that could be possible could someone help me figure this shit out? i did it trial and error the last time i got an idea of how many plants to use and it took several grows so there has to be an easier way. this is pissing me off.
