sorry if this is a stupid question or if it has been asked but if you have a prescription for marijuana, does it effect your record or ability to get, say, health insurance or life insurance??

just curious.

Even if not penalized for the medical marijuana itself wouldn't you be for the pre-existing condition, for which the mj is recommended? Anyway I don't think it's a stupid question, asking how to factor a polynomial in a calculus class is a stupid question. I'll be interested in hearing what others with more relevant experience have to say.

Doctor-patient confidentiality. Your recommendation is not a matter of public record. So, no.

No. Your doctors rec should be confidential.

If they also offer a card, is that the same, confidential...or does that go to a county database? And if so, what are the pitfalls of that?

You will more likely get denied for insurance due to your condition that qualifies you for MMJ before you would even get to the smoking part. :( That's what happened to me with Aflack. Company offers supplemental insurance but I don't qualify due to a kidney disease.

The plastic card is $10 to $20 more for a worthless piece of nothing. Half the clubs won't accept it, and it's means absolutely nothing to the police. But no, it still doesn't add you to any government list.

Someone told me it was county database. Either way my scrip works fine, just have to make copies so I have one in the car etc

If it's not on record, then how come they put your driver license # in the database at the dispensary. Also, i've noticed some sites it says you can search to find out whether someone is a valid patient based on driver license #.

does anyone know about the driver license # thing?

I can't get insurance bc of preexisting condition as well. I was a bit more concerned about the life insurance situation. I shoul dbe concerned about the healthcare but I've had problems for so long, I've given up on getting private health insurance.

thanks for the feedback.

When we first got our scrips, we brought them in to the dispensary, and they look up the website of where you got your scrip to verify you have a medical recommendation. Then when you come in, they need your license with pic to verify you are you and that you are an approved patient

But regular doctors and insurance companies (AFAIK) do not have access to that info, it's all confidential
