Reflective materials used for wall lining

Hi all,

Not sure if this has been asked before but here goes.

I'm wanting to kill three birds with one stone, reflective wall, insulation and sound proofing.

Will this work??

It polyethylene foam with foil on one side, its used for backing radiators and hot surfaces.

Just not sure about how reflective this actual stuff is. I've read from lots of sites the same stuff about %'s of foil, but i wanna know if someone has used or knows somethin the other sites dont.

Google 'Coleman Emergency Blanket' and see if you can find them local to you. There a couple bucks and work really well. Don't know about the stuff your referring to.

the link doesn't give any info about the reflectivity of it, but you are right, foil is not generally very reflective. if i were you i would just use styrofoam panels. they are insulating, provide some degree of soundproofing, and are already white and somewhat reflective. you could always put mylar on top for additional reflectivity, and you could use soundproof adhesive to attach the styrofoam to your walls for additional soundproofing. it would only be around 20 bucks more than the stuff in that link, and that might even be an inflated amount. if you are concerned about using the adhesive on your walls there are ways around that as well.

I don't know exactly how much light styrofoam reflects, but it looks as if it reflects pretty good to me. It's great for insulation as well. A buddy of mine has this as walls in his room and he's not complaining.
Just a cheap material that might work for you. Otherwise white paint or chalk on the wall is great (but doesn't solve your other requirements (unless you make a really really thick layer i guess ;O)) ))
