Reflector Safety Question

Ok i have a sputnik reflector, it's one of the air cooled reflectors. Anyway the bulb i have (600w metal halide) is touching the metal of the reflector. Is this dangerous? Or not something to worry about?

Thanks.

The hood has no such adjustment, i've used several different hoods and never seen such an adjustment on any of them for moving the bulb. It just doesn't leave enough space for these powerplant metal halides. The sodium lamps are narrower and so don't touch the metal.

I wonder if anyone else has a sputnik hood and discovered this problem.
