If a shift to red spectrum aids growth and development, then doesn't it stand to reason what failing to make that shiftwould do?

lol you are confused I would use a HPS to veg but what I meant was I have a veg spec bulb but should be using a flower spec..

thanks all I am going to get a flower spec bulb but the reg won't change as they are autoflowering, what do you do just swap them in the dark period??

I have both vegged and flowered under them both. I even did a grow where one side of the room got MH the other HPS, with the 2 combined in a "mixed spectrum" in the middle.
I found NO DISCERNIBLE DIFFERENCE between the 2. Veg with HPS or flower with MH. I promise you that if you do YOUR job right, any differences in yield will be negligible, if you even notice a difference at all. MH buds might be a BIT less dense in some strains.
I veg and flower under 1K HPS bulbs and am getting right at, or more than, the proverbial GPW.

You would still get a crop but the size of the overhall yeild would be effected unless it was a h.p.s or h.i.d both will give you good results with flowering.I use a h.p.s light for all my growing be it vegging or flowering and i would have to say that a h.p.s is the best overhall light on the market for everthing to do with growing.But if you are going to use something like a flouresent then i would change the spec coulour to more of a flowering coulour.But to be honest if i had to go back to the old days of useing floresents then i would stop growing the yeild that you will get do not make it worth the rist that you are takeing........................tyke...............................................................

i have my orange bud flowering under cmh right now until i have room in the flower room, back in the day i read that indoor growing was done with mh before they started to use hps

I like to alternate between mh and hps for flower. I just switch out my bulb every other week or so. Though I like to use MH for the first couple weeks of flower, as I've read this will limit the "stretch." I think that's a bunch of bull, as they stretch no matter which light I use, but I still do it.

we are discussing the spectrum regaurdless of what lamp you usesame thing
I am using a HPS I do not want advice on what lamp you use I have asked what effect a veg spec bulb will have on my flowering plants MH or any other type of lamp is totally irrelivant in this thread
if you cannot diffrentiate between what I am asking and what you are saying we will never be on the same page..

Not surprisingly, plant scientists or even advanced growers have not run experiments to learn exactly how much doing the wrong thing would hurt the grow. So the question "how much will it hurt if I do this or that thing wrong" has to remain unanswered - except to say "try it and let us know."

BOG (Bushy Old Grower) said that he lowered his light levels towards the end of flower to increase potency, I'm not sure if it was by producing more trichomes or more cannaboids in the existing trichomes.
I'm a believer in high K at the end of flower for resin/cannaboid production but I run a perpetual grow which makes it more difficult. I'm looking for low wattage, high lumen spot lighting in the UVB range but very little exists with more than 10% UVB with the range we need for a spot light.
