Repotted (will it be ok?)

So I just repot my 3 week old from it's 6.5l to a 20l, but in my haste I forgot to loosen the soil at the bottom of the old root system >.<

I put about 3/4l of soil in the bottom, then put the plant in, and covered it round the edges filling it to the top, my question is, will the roots 'know' there is more soil to grow into? I can't really repot again now as I have 20l of lose soil in this tub. The roots looked pretty dense from the old 6.5l, so I'm worried they wont know to grow out more and will just stay compacted in the old soil.

cheers.

There is no need to 'loosen' the roots at all. In fact, if you had it could cause more harm than good. Roots should not be exposed to light or screwed with at all. They will take care of themselves. No worries.

Thanks all.

The lower part of the plant was showing some signs of becoming rootbound, so now it's in a nice big 20l ^^

Totally agree with Igrow. Never mess with the roots. Does more stress than good.
