Residue around my net pots

I have this residue being left around my net cup from the nutes. Is this normal? Also is it OK to spray mist your plants with the same nutes from the res or should I just get foliage spray?

Could be from the nutes or hard water deposits. No need to foliage feed the plants if you are giving them nutes already.
