rockwool question

if you have a plant rooted in some rockwool, can you transplant to soil? or if you start with rockwool you have to finish?

You leave it (the rooted plant/seedling) in the rockwool..

You just stick the rockwool in the soil..

I thought it would be best if I clarified that point.. LOL

cheers

Why would you want to do that? Don't you know that soil has parasites, bad Ph, and clays that harm your plants and it's root systems. Sure you can grow in soil, but your plants will never reach it's maximum potential. Rockwool is better than soil, but hydro machines are even better! I grow in rockwool and I also use hydro systems. I started off growing in soil, then went to Rockwool, then hydro system. Out of the three hydro is the best, then rockwool, then soil.

Just as a note, I've been growing for better than 20 years and have the best success with hydro machines. Which by the way are very easy to make at home with a few items from places like home depot or Lowe's.

Don't rush the geezer. You've been doing it 20 years and you started just like he did. He's aware of hydro', just feels more comfortable with soil at the mo'. You can get good results out of soil too and it's better for amateurs because you have less chance of your crop failing if you make a mistake.

no shit. thats like learning how to crawl as your dad takes the training whels off your bike. soil has its benefits too. way fuckin easier for one. in soil if you add too much of something, youll find out before its too late. with hysro, if you fuck up youll see the damage within minutes

I guess it really doesn't matter what you grow in, so long as your ok with it and that your making the world a little bit greener!! Enjoy!

Im with the voter dude. lol.

Aero is the best! Cricket dont listen to these dirt weed bastards. lol.

Things can go bad fast if you run out of water but the best and biggest buds I have seen were grown hydro (aero). Growing in rockwool is easy and cheap. Cheap as soil pretty much. You dont have to have pumps and timers and all that bs. You can hand water just like you would soil. Rockwool will hold a shitload of water. And you can go days sometimes between watering. Thats how I learned. Then after a few successful crops you can upgrade your system. And make it automated. A good idea would be to get a computer ups power backup to put on your water pumps or timers or whatever (not the lights). I went to my local grow store and he told me that for $1500 I can buy an auto feeder and ph adjuster. That might sound like alot but if your serious about growing and have a couple crops behind you its really not a lot of money. Im not there yet unfortunately :(

You can try all you want in soil but im not having very good luck with it. Time released fertilizers screw me up pretty good. I end up burning shit and blah blah blah. Its dirty, its nasty, it sucks. The back yard is about a foot taller now. Its heavy and just a real pain in the ass. Im tired of buying 20-30 bags every couple of months. It may taste better? I cant really tell. Good weed is good weed.

Soil is a little more forgiving I guess. If you fuck up you have to flush it with lots of water and make a big mess. Sometimes that doesnt even help. With hydro/aero if you need to flush it you just drain and add pure water for a day and you will see your ppm raise back up once the roots are stripped of the salts or whatever. Then you can either dump the res. and add new water and desired ppm or just add to it to get to desired ppm. That helps a lot when you have deficiencies. Just start with a new solution.

If you just get some bigger rockwool cubes or a slab and a good basic hydroponic solution a good mh or hps light you will have some nice plants. It will take a lot of care at first but once you get it down its easy. Im sorry but I have never seen a really huge bud on a soil plant. Soil-less but not soil. Maybe I just havent met anyone talented enough. Anyone have any pics of an indoor soil plant with huge buds? Outdoors... sure they can get big.

I watched Garden knowm's dvd 15 lbs in 80 days. That growers garden is a dream garden. It gave me a lot of good ideas on how I want to set my aeroponics up. I was amazed at the buds he produced. I dont think it could be done in soil. Its amazing.

Ok well im done with my joint. lol. I smoked the entire thing while posting this. So if some things dont make since thats prolly why.

Aeroponics is pretty amazing.. and when mixed with plenty of CLONES, you will be sitting on a gold mine!!

SOIL-----
AMAZING turn around and yield can be had using soil... the key elements to harvestinng lots of ganja in soil are

Good lighting
small plants (fast turnaround)
LOTS of CLONES!!!

cheers

although growing monster plants can be fun.... and if you use plenty of side lighting you ca harvest MORE than 1lb from an indoor plant.. yes 1 lb+..

SIDE LIGHTING

I have seen a plant that was grown indoors with 14 enviro lights (I think the envirolights were 100-125 watts) and 1 - 1000 watt HPS ulb that yielded 3.5 pound.. The plant was surrounded by envirolights with the 1000watt HPS hanging over head....

Total watts 2400
yield one plant- 3.5 lbs..

The yield would have been larger but the guy had to remove a branch that was about 3 feet long becuase he could not close the door on his "box".. as I recall the plant was about 5 feet tall when finished..

I have also seen PICTURES of outdoor plants that claim 10 lbs..

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!.. thats a $30,000 plant :)

Thanks for that. I really can't wait to start my one plant grow. I'm going to see how far I get with a 600 first, maybe add a couple of flouro's along the way. Imagine if they made it legal to grow one plant. Ha Ha.
