This is the best answer I got from a growing buddy....
"Rootbound is more an issue for continuing vegetative growth, not so much for flowering. In fact, if you keep up with the frequent waterings (youll water a ton if rootbound), there's no ill effects within the flowering period new roots = new growth. Growth that already exists is already "rooted" so to speak. Flowering is not considered new growth, in that it requires no additional root mass...it uses what is developed during the vegetative state. to that extent, root development halts anywhere from 1-3 weeks after the onset of flowering, meaning that a transplant beyond this point is not only useless, but probably harmful (stress the plant for no benefit). having said all of that, a plant wont stop producing buds as a result of being rootbound, but there could be some complications (too frequently watering can be a hassle, for one)" - 15 yr. grower.
Has anyone heard of this? It just seems as if my flowers are staying the same, not really turning into actual buds. I'm wondering if during the stretch it Got root bounded?? I'm in a 3 gallon pot and have lstd throughout the entire grow, even flowering. Will post pictures 2 morrow of the plant when is awake.
I think this guys explanation is quite simple and make sense, what do you all think? Thanks in advance!
Also, I thought it would be good to add That they are fed with super thrive a lot, even during flowering. Maybe that had something to do with it considering the roots need a lot of b vitamins to grow Fast and healthy. Superthrive has always giving me good results as for as Building a good root system during veging but this is the first time I've used it in flowering...
