Rosin pressing without pressure gauge

I have a 20ton shop press and am interested in getting a set of rosin press plates. Its a manual press without pressure gauge, do you think I can get by just fine with "feel" and watching?
 
guys a question i wanna throw in that bothers me since my first grow..which is only couple of months ago :)...shouldnt Hash be much more expensive? I mean like 4 or 5 times as expensive as weed? Its pure resin?

a gram of 5/6 star water hash retails for $79 AND UP in dispos in so cal... plus taxes; how much weed can you buy for $100?

cheaper presses do not include a PSI gauge (check out Nugmasher) - should be good; much like tightening a bolt without a torque wrench, I'm sure after a few times you'll dial in the feel

Because it takes 4-5x as much weed to make 1 gram of hash.

Though a 20Ton press might not be powerful enough to take full advantage of the entire surface area of the plates. They have some other slightly smaller sizes but most are not in stock. You can also check out low temp plates but they are edit: a lot more expensive (made in USA though)
Man, I checked low temp plates prices and they have gone up a lot!

well i never checked these prices. Im only going for street prices i experienced over the last 20 years. 20 years ago Hash and weed was basically the same price. Today Hash is maybe 1.5 times the price. Thats why i was so surprised to see Hash is made out of pure resin. I always had the feeling theres also other stuff in there, plant material etc.
 
I use a Dab Press with the 6 ton bottle jack. There is definitely a feel to it along with watching the flow. As the flow slows the handle gets easier to press down. Eventually, that cycle stops and it's pretty much done. I then take that squished bag and set it aside. Once I have 2 or more I can put them inside a new bag and try to get a little more out of them.

So long as you warm the material pretty well, you should get the hang of it pretty quick. Or, you blow the bag out and try again.
