Ok, technically this is my second grow. But my first grow stretched really bad, fell over, and died in about a week.
I'm off to a better start this time, sort of. I am growing a few bag seeds and a few California Orange. They are about 11 days old and were doing great until about 3 days ago. They started to get brown spots on the bottom leaves and a bit of yellowing at the tips (see pics). I thought it was magnesium deficiency due to the water in the reservoir being to hot, but now I am not sure. I was pretty sure they were the walking dead so I unplugged my grow cabinet and left it alone for the night. This morning when I went to clean it out, to my shock, my plants were looking better. Now I am trying to save them.
Heres all the details (sorry to be windy but I dont want to miss anything that might lead to the problem):
They were under 24 hour 400w MH lighting about 7 inches away from the tops of the plants, drip water from the top 24 hours with a mist-er on the root side, the air temp was around 76F-80F (24C-27C) and the water temp around 80F-85F (27C-30C), the Ph was at 5.8, and nutes about 190-220.
I did some research and I concluded that a)my water temp was to hot, b) they had too much light (too hot and stressful) c)too much water
Now, I am switching them to an 18/6 light and raised the light to about 12 inches from the tops, stopped the drip of water from the top, but the roots are into the reservoir and the mist-er is still running (they still seem plenty moist), the air temp is around 72F-76F (22C-25C) and the water temp has stayed at 75F (24C), the Ph is 5.8 and the nutes are 220.
They seem to be doing fine, but its still too soon to tell if they are going to pull through. I really am hoping to get this to work this time, and keep a running journal here to keep you all posted if it works.
Any comments, questions, or ideas?
Thanks a ton in advance!
