San Pedro cutting help

a buddy of mine got a cutting online and it has this on it. What the hell is it? I suggested a dead pup, but is it safe to remove?

Weird, is that actually growing out the cactus or just somthng on it ? either way I'd remove it

Yeah he said its growing on there. I told him to email the succulent source where he got it and ask. He may end up with another free cutting.

It looks like it's a faded bloom. It is not a San Pedro however. It's what's commonly called an Night Blooming Cereus..

The cutting isn't a San Pedro or the flower growing on it?

Neither. San Pedro doesn't have the deep valleys between lobes. That's a cereus trait. I grow lots of cacti.

I have 4 San Pedro that I bought from different locations and they all look like that. That really is my friends.

Here are some San Pedro and Cereus pics. It looks more like Cereus to me, but it could be slightly dehydrated and just appear that way.
