Sasha's 1st grow! -Skunk- Seeking advice

Hey everyone, I am new here, I made my introduction so no need for one here.

My boyfriend grew once, but primarily this grow will be up to me, hes always working~!

So the strain we chose, The Pure skunk from the flying dutchman, 8 out of 10 germ'd, and than 7/10 sprouted and are now a couple inches tall.

Right not our setup is in a rather narrow but long and semi tall closet. The walls have plastic (one said white one side dark, not sure the name)

We are growing in a Coca/perlite mix, and a few of the pots have hydroton ontop, now the pots we have a much too big, should i transplant to somehting smaller?

My boyfrind had some hydroton left and few rockrool cubes, from his first grow, (hydro, kush, all cfl micro grow). We noticed the seeds in rockwool germinated the fastest.

I would like to have a mother plant, and i will be taking crazyyyy amounts of clones as many as possible to fill this closet up, right now I am looking at a 430 watt hps, my boyfriend has this idea where we would like to connect to 2 car battery's through say a 600w inverter to run the lights, and just keep recharging the battery, so we dont ruin our electricity bill!!

our little friends were looking heathly until just yesterday, where the tips of the leaves became brittle and crispy, I am scared something is wrong??

I havnt got a chance to pick up nutes, I might as well get organic, since i am using coca.

Heres some pics, any advice is great, leave a comment i'll check out your thread!

Thanks every1!!

**Note, the top layer of each pot does not have perlite, there is a mix though!

So heres a basic shot of the closet, I will ad more pictures later, but who wants to see 1000 of an empty closet and little sprouts!?!

heres a shot of one without hydroton ontop

heres the whole un heathy thing im talking about, I hope my babby's dont die :(

My guess, could the lights be too close?? They are just cfl's. will be adding more, I have like 5 lying around.

more later.. :joint:

did you boil the hydroton before adding it to the pots? there may be salt buildup in them from the last grow, they should always be boiled in hot water prior to use

batterys are not going to work? Take that advice as fact coming from a electrician. With a few detail i can work out exactly how much a month a 600w hps will cost.

Never think that a pot is too big a root system can fill out a pot of that size easy. The more room that you can give aroot system during the veg and flowering cycle the better.Has a rule i always take double the ammount of clones that i will need and then thin out the more established and bin the rest. You can sell the others i know plenty who do but with this comes the problems of people knowing that you grow so bin them.Get rid well away from your house though. The seedlings in the pictures that are posted are well on there way to stardom.I would have them under the h.p.s. light like last week.Get them up to around a foot tall then flower this way the plant will get the optimon light giveing you a far quicker harvest and you will get a ounce to a ounce and harf easy. The least that i get doing the grow in this way is a ounce and harf per plant. There are two major factors that to get a good harvest you will need to do first have a ossalating fan to keep good air movement on the plants. The second is get hold of a secondry fan to blow cold air onto the light hood this will keep the light cool enougth to have it just of the tops of the plants without burning them. The closer that the light is to the top is make or break time if the light is too far away then you will end up with leggy plants and fluffy buds this is not the way to go you want dence buds with close internodes.
