on another forum that i am on there was a group of people responding to it's normal to be paranoid bout the electric bills. 2 of them gave up their location by mentioning their city which are in miami FL . they said the power company cooperate with the police department and help out on cracking drugs in the street. when an electric bills climbs up but then goes down again then back up again it gets flag. if it's in the ghetto area it get flag. a common drug area it get flag. they are very sensitive and the police goes out with a heat seeker and look thru at your house and they use our timing 12/12 or 18/6 and such. if we match these number and they are confident enough that house is growing it's enough for a judge to provide them with a search warrant. the new technology with L.E.Ds are the best way to go when you live in such a bad city. i know it makes sense that the power company would love us cuz the more we use the more money they make but that's not the case anymore they probably MAKE money tipping off the cop that we using a strange amount of electricity!!

has anybody make an estimate how much they spend on electricity with their system? for example

400 watts HPS 18/6 = 90 dollars extra per month? etc

On average a light system will increase your electricity cost from $8 to $20 per month—the exact amount depends on the size of the system and the number of hours operated. However, since these grow lights are so energy efficient, you are getting huge amounts of light (and growing power) for your money! Make sure your grow room’s power circuit can handle the power draw. For safety reasons, do not exceed 75% of the rated ability of the fuse/breaker (for example: use no more than 15 amps on a 20-amp circuit). To calculate your cost, multiply the bulb wattage X hours of operation and divide by 1000. This figure is the number of kilowatt hours of electricity consumed. (Example: a 400 watt bulb running for 18 hours will use 7.2 kilowatt hours). Check your power bill for the cost of each kilowatt hour. Then multiply the number of kilowatt hours by the cost of a kilowatt hour (K/hr) to arrive at the cost per month to run the light in your area.

maybe for large grow ops but 2lb or less i think you wont send up any flags

im a paranoid grower also but i dont worry bout the electric bill i worry bout the pigs coming to my house busting down the door to get me n all my hard work.. having all my shit confiscated.. that would fuckin suck n doing time in jail.. then having a drug record that will fuck ur life up forever..

heres how i see it, if my power bill goes up cause i start using a 1000 watt HPS, i could as easily have a gaming computer with a 1000 watt power supply. I mean i have seen way bigger power supplies then 1000 watt. I dont think the power company thinks your only gonna use like 500 watts in your house, they probably have an average number for things like microwaves, LCDs, heaters, computers, chargers. it all adds up. When i add a light i try to remove something else in my house of equal value.

Hell home servers use tons power. I know for a fact lots of gamers, website owners, and heavy BT users have multiple servers setup in their homes. I imagine the people that get busted growing are those that are selling and placing themselves in the limelight.

Here in B.C. BC Hydro does report to the police if more then I think it is 1000 watts are being used and it is not a commercal place. If anyone should show up at your door you are fined up too $5000.00 for them showing . They do have heat seeking helicopters and much much more from the war. They have been using these toys for along time now including audio devices computer hacking etc. Do not think these guys don't have it all the pricks.Just can't get greedy peace out Headband707:bigjoint:

this is what you do
build your room, put everything together, pumps, setup lights, vents, CO2,.... etc , everything
then run your system
everything, all of it (but no weed) ,,, for at least 6 month empty ,,, that should be enough time for the feds to to do a drive by with the thermo scanner and see the heat sig. from the lights and then go get a search warrant and the raid just to find an empty room, there's no law aganist haveing a grow room,,,, hell why not even grow some eggplants and fried green tomato's and cucombers

but on the other hand you could use this time to collect your seeds and also gain a peace of mind on your setup -if you dont get raided in 6 month (or even a year, however long you can wait it worth it) then you are cool + you have some nice veggies

That's funny because a typical house hold heater, the small kind that you plug into a wall pull on avg 1500watts. Then things like the water heater and range pull upwards of 5000watts.

Really all of this is crazy, these lights are sold legally so even if a cop was able to prove you were running a 1000watt HPS 12/12 they have no way to prove what you are growing. Not to mention they couldn't actually prove you were running the 1000watt because power companies don't report that information.

As for accepting it if you get caught, yeah that sounds nice but it does not mean you should be stupid about your grow and not try to avoid being caught.

Try all you want That 5hit but you can't justify being completely clueless and giving advice worth less than nothing. Do you even realize how much time and money you'd potentially cost others for no reason at all with that advice? Maybe if it's a 17 year old taking your advice you'd have accidentally made them wait until 18 and done some good, but that's about the only upside I can see.
