hey I'm low on funds so I built this wick setup for free, once my paycheck comes in and this roves to be a fairly successful method I will expand upon this but for now this is what I have:
started off with an empty clean can:
open her up:
puncture holes in the bottom to let the water in:
my wick, I tried different fabrics but none acted as a wick quite as well as paper towel:
cram some rocks between the wick fins for the roots to grab onto and to add some weight so the can doesn't float on top of the water:
poke a hole in a stack of paper towel for the seed to sit in
put in in a tray of water (cutout from a yogurt container) and in my "nursery":
place seed in the hole in the stack of paper towel, and place on top of the wick (I made a notch in the wick beforehand so it would fit nicely):
put a wet piece of fabric over top to keep the whole seed wet to help germinate:
I'll keep you up to date on how well it germinates and settles in.
any questions or comments?
