Took my grow box of 2' deep, 4' high & 4 ' wide.
Added extra whisper fan (that's the black square at the back, has charcoal filter over it)
Had 8 48" t-12 bulbs 4 full spectrum 4 27K grow tubes. Added 2 150 watt HPS
Seeds went into soil Sept 11, grew for 2 weeks under 24 hour CFL put on 12/12 September 26th.
Just installed the HPS on October 31st.

Plants have been super topped (broke top off then 2 weeks later snapped 2 new tops off. By accident but it seems to make the plant a bush rather than a tree

Temp has a high of 87 during the day & down to 68 as a low at night.
Soil is a new type I got at the Hydro store.

For some reason, with the new lights, the pics have lines in them. Will try new photos with better camera instead of the Droid phone.
Using Molasses 1tbs/quart water & some bloom fert I got at the hydro store cant remember but its what they recommend. Feeding once a week & watering every 3 days.

Because of the new lights, I'm not sure if the plants have issues or if its just the lights.

Comments welcome

Forgot to mention. I understand there may be an issue with the genetics of these seeds. Nirvana sent me replacement ones but I already had these 2 sprouted so I just let em go. They are both female so that's good. The auto flowering I don't know about because I put them under 12/12 anyways. I thought they were toast anyways but they seem to be going ok.

Lots of bud sights all over the place.

The leaves look a little faded perhaps? I looked really closely & I couldn't tell if they were a little shriveled because I had them too close to the lights? I lowered them prior to the picture being taken. They were about 10" below the lights now they are about 18" The lights must throw off some electronic interfirence because of the black lines. Never happened with just the floro tubes.

Geesh.. forgot to add that they seemed to have stopped doing anything for the past week. I remember that happened with my last grow & its to be expected as the plant goes internally from vegging to flowering?

Does that make sense? The plants are on week 4 or 5 on the 12/12

The lines in the pics are from the HPS lights, it is normal. Moving the lights probably avoided burning the tops.

Does keeping the t-12's on help? When I grew my last ones I got to keep them right tight up to the lights. Almost growing into the bulbs. Now, the plants are perhaps 2' away from the tubes. Is the light still getting to them or should I just leave them unplugged?

I can add some CFL's if required but perhaps the 300 watts of HPS goodness will be enough?

So Bigv1976 you would suggest just turning them off? I did that just to see how it looked & the box seemed to be about half as bright so I turned them back on.

I was thinking of putting a ring of CFLs around the 2' mark in the box. I would be able to put say 6 at the back & 3 at each end. That would give me say 12 cfls's that would be ringing the middle of the plants. WOuld that cause them to grow funny? It would probably be a good idea to turn them once a day or something like that if I go that route.

I know I Know.. just buy a 600 watt HPS but it so much fun just working with what you can find or pick up for next to nothing..

Its the game I love not the win.. :) Although, it's all win baby! If you can smoke it at the end & it get you off...It's all good baby.. it's ALL good.

No I am not that guy that is gonna tell you to go buy a 600. My last grow was T5 start to finish and currently I am 12/12 from seeding a bunch of bagseed under my 400. I say run those T12's verticle in the corners and just leave em be and run the 2 high beams and you will be fine and have some nice side lighting.

Stand them up.. Ah.. thats a good idea. Get light full length of the plants..

See.. that's why I log on here.

PLants seem to be growing again. TONS of bud sites.
Seems the one I abused (all wilted one day.. think I forgot to water it or something) as grown back with a vengeance. Almost tempted to trim out some of the foliage to get the light dow to the multiple bud sites in the center.

Will post pics tonight.

Here are pictures I took this morning. Turned the HPS lights off so they were clearer.

They were planted as seeds September 11 & put under the 2-150 watt HPS 12/12 on October 31st.

HOw are they looking for being 8 weeks in the ground?

Comments & advise welcome.

Took some pictures this morning.

They were planted as seeds September 11 2010. Just started to use 2-150 watt HPS lights October 31st.

How do they look? I supercropped them (by mistake, broke them 3-4 times) I think that's why they are so bushy. They are Feminized Auto Bubbaliciuos from Nirvana.

How do they look? Comments very welcome.

Only second grow but I seem to holding my own. I may LST them so I can get them a little closer to the lights. Never used HPS before so Im pretty scared of burning them.

I had the lens cover open when I first installed the lights & I scorched the one a bit. She came back bigger & better as far as i can tell. Anyways, I closed the lens cover on the lights & the really helped with the radiant heat off the bulbs so I moved them about 6" closer. WIll check when I get home if their ok.

The lens cover is clear glass on both of the 150 watt HPS lights. Because it's clear, I assume it doesn't mess with the lumens all that much?

Opinions??

The lenses should be fine. I have tempered glass on my 400 and I don't see much of a difference. I never put a light meter on it though. I know the glass really helps with the temps.

I checked on Princesses this morning.. Kids were up so I couldn't take pictures, but I think they grew a few inches yesterday. I moved them about 5 inches closer to the lights (that would be about 12" away) yesterday morning & when I looked at them this morning there was tons of growth about 6" away from the lights.

I lowered them again the 5". I might have to start bending them over as they are getting pretty darn close to the light again. With the lens cover though there was no crisping of the leaves so I will keep them on.

I think I have to rebuild the grow cabinet this Christmas. Just having the 2 plants in there now is getting cramped. MIght keep this one for veg & build a 6' high one for bloom. I am in no hurry so I wouldn't mind spending 6 months growing a nice big mind blowing sativa. LST, supercropping ect. Spend 3 month veggin her & then see what happens :)

Will get a 400 watter for the new box maybe. or, grab another 150 watt so I would have 3 then.. Spreading the light out over a better distance?

Updated pictures! These were seeds put in the ground September 11 2010.

There may be problems with the genetics so I wanted to know if they look right for about 10 weeks of growth?
They seem bushy as hell but I broke a few head off when I tried super cropping.

Im wondering though. Should the buds be bigger? I noticed that on one plant there is a bud with what looks like orange hairs started which makes me think its winding down. :( That would be bad I think because all the buds are small.

There was a noticeable dormant period a couple weeks ago but the thing seems to be taking off now.

I could toss them out & start some new seeds but I wanted to experiment with what I had.
PLease review & comment
