Secret Jardin DR60 Growtent - A Simple Vent Question

Hi, I just ordered: http://www.greners.com/secret-jardin-dark-room-grow-tent-dr60.html?___store=english

It's a 2' x 2' x 5' grow tent. I wanted to add a 4" inline fan with carbon scrubber. I want to have the carbon scrubber on the inside of the tent sucking the air out and spitting it outside the tent.

Now, my question is.... Do I need air blowing INSIDE the tent too or will it be enough to have air passively flowing into the tent from the negative pressure gradient of the inline fan and scrubber?

Thanks!

I would think that you would receive plenty of "fresh air" passively drawn in, However, to the best of my understanding, to really promote strong branching you want air blowing inside the tent...enough to cause a small constant movement canopy leaves.

If your question is simply...will they live and have enough fresh air? then I would say yes. I've been using a 2' x 3.5' area for 3 grows now. With this sad closet setup, I have absolutley no air flow when is shut. My plants still live healthy, however, just not to their full potential.

However, I am by no means a veteran grower... and don't have a definitive answer for you.

Hope this helps somewhat.

BTW, do you know if all the intake/exhaust ports on Secret Jardin tents the same size? I'm looking at a DR120W and can't find specs on exhaust/intake size. I would assume 4".

your plants need fresh air every once in a while. for optimum growth anyways. this helps fight o2 and co2 depletion. also, make sure your fan is "sucking" not "pushing" air. this helps keep your cfm rates up. like thwack said, your plants should do fine without constant fresh air but it definitely does help to have a steady supply.

Check out my grow I'm using a 3'x3'x6 tent. I have a 4" 190 CFM fan for exhaust pulling air out of the top of the tent. 110 CFM 4.5" Axial fan pushing air into the tent. Temps in the room are 73 degrees. Tent temp under lights 85 and near the bottom of tent it is around 80. I have small 6" fans in there (3 total) moving air around in the tent and blowing on the ladies. If I was to just use the exhaust fan only the temps rise up to 87 in the tent. The light cycle and intake fan are on the same schedule so when light goes off 4" exhaust is the only thing.

Secret Jardin I think has 4" intakes & exhausts...
