Seed vs clones for Northern California outdoor

So I'm looking to get my outdoor grow started and a friend of mine told me that due to the possibility of strong winds up on the ridge where I'll be growing and fogs that come in late in the season, that I may want to use seeds instead of clones, because they'll grow heartier and more disease resistant...

Now a lot of people I know grow strains like bubba, OG, Sour, and they never told me about any problems - but I do recall while researching that plants that come from seed will be stronger, better root systems, and potentially yield more? I know the obvious disadvantage that I'll have to remove half my plants because they'll be males, but will the benefits of stronger, better yielding plants outweigh that disadvantage? The other disadvantage would be strain selection, and a lot of my top notch strains would be eliminated from my choice. Anyone know any solid seed strains that I can obtain at California dispensaries? I know I've seen DJ short's genetics, and I know they have DNA out here, but anyone have a particular strain that they know grows well up in NorCal outdoor, and what dispensary I might be able to get it at? Or are there any clone strains that you know that grow well up in the emerald triangle? Like I've said I've seen my buddies successfully do OG, Bubba, Blue dream, Sour, but my spot may be exposed to the elements a little more than their spots. Any input is greatly appreciated. yeah man I feel ya. I don't think a seed would have much difference than a clone. You would just have to train it. Get a portable green house or make a cheap one. put the clones or seedlings (if you want to do seeds) in there and let me transition in there. Then when they are ready put them out in the wild. Stick to those strains you mentioned and youll be good. Im in the same situation, looking for a good outdoor strains for this season. I heard skunks are good, Afghan too

If you use clones, dip them (roots & all) in Azatrol every week for 3 weeks, no more spyder mites.

It's much easier to dip them when they are small, than to spray them later, when they're bigger.
