if you were growing with soil in pots you wouldn't be able to see the root except when transplanting. if you can see the root in the bottom of the pot, with soil then put it in a bigger pot. if you can see the roots, that is a problem-called, exposed roots. I am imagining a little baby plant in a peat pot dying in a crusty desert. transplant it, or water it at least. live and learn, trial and error. water seedlings at least once or twice a day, try to saturate the soil for 15 minutes, then dry it out
