seedling leaves pointing straight up

was curious to know why these leaves are pointing upwards?

also have another one that is maybe a month old and this morning there are 2 hairs on it...she looks like a runt. as a matter of fact i was going to toss this one because she looked so small...the hairs threw me off...this plant is tiny..maybe 3 inches...any ideas?...sorry no pics:-?
