Seedling soil

This is my first grow attempt and I am just about to pot a couple of seedlings that I have germinating. I am making my own soil and planning on using 1/3 Seed Starting Jiffy Mix, 1/3 Vermiculite and 1/3 Perlite. I have a couple of questions.

First, is Seed Starting Jiffy Mix ok to use instead of pure potting soi in a seedling soil?

I've read the warnings against using Mircale Gro Potting Soil but is it ok to use Miracle Gro Perlite in the seedling mixture above?

I appreciate any help.

I planted 4 germinated seeds in the mix a few days ago so hopefully they'll grow up big and strong

well im not an expert. but i have the same jiffy mix and thats it. no mix no nothing. just soil, and my plants look like there doing good. they sprouted about 2 days ago and they have grown quit a bit. there lookin really healthy. what kind of lights you starting with?

if it were my first grow, i'd try using a pre-made soil specifically designed for seed starting. fox farm makes one, and has an awesome lineup of soils and fertilizers. good luck.....

but is jiffy mix good too? or is it super bad?

I've got the 4 seeds sitting underneath 2 23W CFL with a reflector. 3 of the 4 seeds have sprouted above the soil with their cotelydons exposed and the beginnings of their first true leaves. Since this is my first grow, I've been taking detailed notes and I'll start a grow log tomorrow with pics .

jiffy pelets are ok until you transplant them. mircale grow is ok i guess. i had 3 plant that gave me 2.2 ounces dry and this was with cfl's! so just go at it! but if you can spend a few bucks get a bag of foxfarms soil!

the second those get a node.. actually sooner. those 4 kiddos NEED to be in separate pots. 4 will have a tough, fighting for root space and what not. that and if you wait too long your root systems will get tangled.
