Buy a bag of Pro-Mix BX. Add a bit of perlite. This ain't rocket science and it won't explode so experiment. Use "as is" right out of the bag if you like but the perlite is a boost with moisture. Layer it right over your Supersoil. You can't add too much perlite hardly. As to feeding - you are using Supersoil for a reason. Only feed the plants if they show actual signs of deficiency before roots hit the goodies.

I used fox farm ocean forest. Straight from the bag in a quart planter. I amended with 1/3 castings, kelp, guano perlite when transfer to a 5 gal fabric container, 2 weeks later if doing well it goes to 12/12. Never understood the "hot soil" theory. Your plants grow better when you leave them alone but
