Hey everyone. I was inspired to build my own 35 gallon Rubbermaid grow box after lurking around on this site for a bit. - I currently have 6 seeds in Fox Farms soil, running under 4 42 W 6500K bulbs, and 2 40W 2700K soft white bulbs, with a 80 mm intake fan on the bottom, with a 120 mm on top, and another 80 mm outtake fan in the middle.
I have a few questions that would be awesome to get answered:
- I have the bottom of it wrapped shabbily in the dull side of aluminum foil, and the top with a shabby job of mylar. Also, I just have the tubs sitting using gravity to hold them together, with light escaping out all the nooks and crannies. Other tha security concerns, is it really important and feasible to completely light-proof my box? How would one go about doing that?
- It seems to be really dry in there. I have a cheap thermometer/humidty meter and the humidity is 20-30 while temps hover around 80. The soil seems to dry out rather quick as I have been trying to keep it moist until the seeds start to break surface. I mist them a lot, and have soaked them through once after a day. They have been in there 2.5 days now under 24 hour light. These are just shitty bagseeds. Is there any concerns with it being so dry?
-And am I doing what I should to make sure everythings good at this stage?
Thank you to anyone who responds. Trying to turn this small stealth growbox into the best it can be!
Attached are some pics.
