Well crap.... apparently it works! 
But... If you ever open your fridge, it will not be dry any more. When you open it, the mingling warm ambient air and cold conditions of te fridge will actually result in a RH near 100 %.

I keep mine in the fridge and have never had a problem with germination. Be sure that you keep them in a container that is NOT transparent so you don't have light on them every time you open the fridge, and also put some grains of rice (uncooked) in the container as well as this will soak up any moisture that might seep in to the container.

i keep mine in a safe in a room that is control temp of 70 degrees year round. have seeds that are quite a few years old and so far have been good germ rates.
i saw a show on tv where they have a seed bunker will all different kinds of seeds in case something happens and we need to start over. i think the bunker was kept just above freezing, but they also changed out the old seeds with fresh every few years.

Thats bullshit , fridge is best place. Put seeds in ziploc container and store in crisper. Easiest and BEST!!A quote from Subcool about his seeds.

i don't agree bro, Sub is right on with this one....if you want seeds to remain viable longest, they need to be in their own refrigerator that maintains the same temp and humidity, just ask yourself this....what keeps things the longest in a dormant state....the answer, is an evirionment that does not fluctuate..........i am sure most breeders whom are preserving genetics over time use this method, and quite sure Sub just didn't pull the idea out of thin air.....

How often are you opening the fridge door to make the temps rise and fall?
In NORMAL use the fridge will hardly fluctuate in temperature, also that being said ive sprouted some of my dads old bag seeds from the 70's that were just kept in a tin and in a drawer and 7 out of 10 sprouted and grew fine. just do what you think is best.
if they dont work just buy some more, thats the beauty of the internet age.

seed in dark place room temp. that it pollen needs the fridge seed will last for ever at room temp ive got bagseeds that are 3 years old never seen a fridge and they still pop.
