Setting up

Hi all. Im new to the site hope to learn some new things. And would appreciate all help. Quick question.. If i setup my carbon filter and fan to an old over flow pipe would it still work? The pipes about an inch thick. The fans 6" btw.. Cheers

Is the diameter of the old pipe at least the same diameter of the fan? This should work great! If the diameter is less, there will be a severe restriction created--I'm not sure how much air you could get through a 5" or less pipe at any real distance.
