You want to wait until it has 5-7 nodes grown before taking a cutting from one of the bottom branches. The bottom part clones fastest and then it can be flowered to determine the donor plant's sex. How fast it takes you to get 7 nodes will be due to environment, genetics, care and lighting. Mine generally take 4 weeks from seed to be big enough to clone.

If it has pollen sacks it is male. if it has delicate white hairs all over it is female. once you see one you will never have a doubt about the sex.
