Sharp and pointy things

Who here has a passion for knives?

Whether it's functional blades, fantasy steel, or historical weaponry lets talk about the sharp pointy things that we love so much and share our favorites of our collections.

Personally my favorite piece that I own is a Ka-Bar short. 5 1/4" 1095 cv steel blade, 9 1/4" overall. kraton coated handle. Flat pommel. Smooth blade, and tact scabbard. All in all a great little knife.

Looking at getting a Celtic style boot dagger, but finding one that's not just junk Chinese steel has proven a challenge.

I collect knifes, bayonets, meat cleavers, machetes and ice picks. i honored my nephew with a 1980s, new in box, ka-bar upon his graduation from boot in parris island last month. my most recent buy was a spyderco auto. here is acouple of pics i could find right off.068.JPG 153.JPG

I was taught to carry a pocket knife at all times ( yes, even in school, from 5th grade all the way to college), I was left a very nice collection of knives that my father collected. One of the coolest is an Army pen knife and straight razor set that was issued to my great Aunt's brother who never made it home from WW1.

I have several old school puma, buck and case knives and a couple of the cold steel 2 handed machete for beating up the woods and stuff.

I got a surprise when i saw that picture ASM, i have one very similar sitting right next to me, had no idea of its origins.

I started carrying one of this in my pocket from the age of 6, i remember because it was just before i went to primary school. I remember cutting cane and making toys and what not with it. Grandad gave it to me. I used to eat 5 or 6 oranges straight from the tree and peal them with that same knife every morning before lunch on holidays. Only thing i wasnt allowed to do was to sharpen it for some reason.

My dad has a pretty decent knife collection as well. I'm hoping to inherit it on his passing (which with any luck shouldn't be for a long time) It's about 20 or so knifes. Most are survival and hunting knifes. A few daggers though. He also told me to carry a knife with me everywhere I go.

For Christmas he sent me a Case XX which is nice, but needs oiled pretty badly. I've always preferred fix blade over folders so I just keep it at home, and use it on rare occasions when it's more convenient.
