Shell On Seedling

The sprout is poking about a half inch above ground but still has the shell around it slightly the inside looks like a ball on the end instead of the two round leaves, Should I just take the shell off gently or is it holding on until it develops more...Thanks for the replies

if you can do it reaaally gently without having to be to rough then it is ready if not, just wait a little longer and then pull it off, i am a beleiver in pulling it off at some point, but not too early..

one of my plants did a similar thing, except the shell was biting one of the leaves like pac man. pretty funny. i left and ignored it since i was just hanging on the 1 leaf, eventually i just tapped it slighty and it fell off pretty easy.

Yeah I figure it will fall off and the sprout will open up if you know what I mean probably by tomorrow...I just didnt know if removing it would help speed up the process since it would have to spend time trying to get it off..thanks everyone..I'll probably let it do it naturally or wait until I feel its safe enough..don't want to hurt those future prize winners right??? lol
