Shitty roommates?

Is it just my girlfriend and I or do we just move in with the shittiest people?
So weve been living with this couple for about a month and a half now and we got our first set of big 4 person bills.
They were cheaper than I expected and I was happy to pay half and I left them sitting on the counter for my roommate.
He comes home and flips a shit about how expensive they are and how he cant afford them and how my 150w HPS is costing us 300$ a month to run (lol yeah ok) but he was just talking about buying a 400$ Mobius.
So now he wants me to pay half the rent, all the electric bill, the cable bill, and the water bill.
WHAT THE FUCK?!?
This is our second set of roommates, our first was this kid we were friends with for a short time who offered to pay one or two of the cheapest bills and buy groceries but in three months couldnt make rent.
Is it just us?

The worst ship that ever floated was a partnership. It is hard to find people that live as you do. I would ditch them and find a place to make it without outside help.

Fuck roommates. When this ends badly and you kick them out they might be dicks and snitch on your grow.

I would be up front and tell them {the next roomies} this is what it typically cost to run this house, we need someone who can help pay {x} amount dollars per month, either by buying food or paying a bill. Require 1st and last mths rent before they move in.

Thats the thing, I dont want to end badly so Im trying to be easy on the dumbass. Hes got plenty of money hes just a skimpy guy so I want him to understand but hes so damn stubborn.

I don't even know where I'd start... Having a roommate is only mildly different from marriage. You may or may not be fucking. So choose wisely.

Move out or ask them to leave. It's already not working, so why try further. So glad I quit that roommate game years and years ago. It only works if you're good friends beforehand and give each other space, and everyone has a steady income, and it's not a party house, and the list goes on and on. Just end it. The guy is absurd. There's a formula to figure out how much your light is costing you to run. Figure out the kilowatt hours and then tell him to suck off. Tell him you don't want the cable... and then get internet and password protect it so he can't use it. All the good shows are available online anyway. This guy's demands make him sound like an idiot. If you're growing, you don't need an idiot around, because idiots have idiot friends and the idiot factor just multiplies.

Don't get me started on the bitch that I was nice enough to let live in my house for piss cheap.

this piss slit eyed bitch thought because she paid $400 a month that I would be her fucking maid and personal chef. She bought worlds most RETARDED car and expected me to shovel it out of the street so SHE wouldn't get a ticket during blizzards. She never chipped in to help clean a thing, she was a nasty drunk slob who always had random guys over. She didn't know how to unclog the toilet after her shit clogged it, so I had to. She didn't tell me until AFTER she moved in that she had herpes (I have OCD with things being clean and this was a BIG nono for me, sharing a bathroom and all) she left her shit everywhere and she worked stupid hours so she'd have her dumbass boyfriend that I couldn't stand over at like 5AM, and they were not curtious about the noise. On top of that, I had NO privacy with her, shed randomly pop in my room after I clearly just got out the shower and was getting dressed to try and talk to me about shit/people I could care less about. Not only that but she fucking was a BITCH when I had my guy kick her out for being such a shitty roommate. I can deal with not having nice things from the extra money, at least I got my own house now.

When she left I told her I'd fuck her face up but god already did it for me. No joke this bitch was manly looking, girly body and voice with a 40 year old mans acne filled face. It's mean to say, but I hated seeing that face every morning trashing my fridge.

tl;dr-- your roommates obviously don't know how good they got it. I wouldn't be growing with others living with me in the first place, I hope they don't use that against you if you don't agree to their terms :/

If he is a reasonable person sit him down with the electric bill and figure out exactly how much the HPS is costing - a 150W isn't going to be that much.

12 hours day x 30 days = 360 hours per month x 150W = 54 kWh x (price per kilowatt) = total per month

Unless your electricity is outrageously overpriced, I doubt it will cost more than $7 per month to run a 150W HPS
Use that formula to figure out your entire cost for all your equipment - just adjust the hours and wattage as needed.

your room mate sounds like an ass. lets just say its super hot here. 4 person house , all rooms with tvs , ac , you know typical appliance use for that many people. plus roughly 3.5k in total electricity for the grow. and at the highest peak heat in summer , electricity is like 7 bills a month and thats outrageously high. Take into account i live in no doubt one of the hottest cities in the entire country year round. his math or calculations are off somewhere. best way to handle this is take the grow down while u get him out if thats how u have to go about it. if theres nothing to find , nothing to snitch on and u can tell the cops to fuck off IF they did really want to search u over a bitter room mate. i feel for you man. caught inbetween a rock and a hard place it may seem. you may have mentioned it and i may need to reread , but not sure how long you said you knew them. But ive tried the room mate thing with my girl too. seems like unless its someone we grew up with or have known for years it never works.

Buy this and show it to him. it will tell you EXACTLY how much power your entire grow room is using. TVs heaters and sound systems use way more power than an entire grow room will use.

stayed with a bunch of just graduated stoners, they thought they were hot shit. i was one of 2 people to have a job and pay rent. whole house had no a/c so i got a unit for myself. these guys who had jobs couldn't keep them and were constantly having people over while another dude sold shit tons of cronic at of the back of the house. constant room mates and no one paying rent but me.tim.and dude. atmosphere was tense, couldn't just buy an eighth had to buy and sit there and smoke with people. lights always on and not for growing. then the people i rented from wanted to bitch at me when i wanted to stop renting when they told us to start looking they are selling the house in may. then had some dudes sleeping on my couch, one who was just a freak/beach prep. every time he's over this dude has an episode where he slips inside himself and goes on tangents. a tweaker who poped pills saying its for sleep yet smokes enough weed to kill an elephant. an alcy and a bunch of moochers. fuck room mates never again, most of people who want ot help are just people bumming.

There is no way this will end well. There's no way you can explain. In the future do not rent to friends. Conceal your grow and do all real estate transactions in writing so both you and he knows what to expect. Charge them X amount for utilities. There is no reason they need to know your biz or you theirs.
