Should food stamp recipients be forced into doing community service?

if you are able-bodied and able to work, but choose not to and still rely on food stamps, should you be forced to do community service? maybe 8-10 hours a week or so.

i think you should. in an orange uniform. picking up trash by the side of the highway.

earn your keep.

Definitely, and if your fat you shouldn't get any either. Then base the amount they get on how ugly looking you are, sorry your not even close to a ten. It should be really hard for a woman to get on food stamps if she doesn't have big tits.

that's a good point.

maybe in addition to doing manual labor and community service, food stamp recipients should be weighed publicly first. the results of the weigh-in should be posted in a public newspaper, so we can all see how fat these food stamp recipients are getting on our tax dollars.

a little naming and shaming of overweight food stamp recipients might be a good idea and a boost to our efforts.

10/10 suggestion, would read again.

The more you weigh, the less we pay:-)

But many many many people already work 40 hours a week ,, but still rely on food stamps because of the low paying jobs in this country,,, So,,, Are they not already working?,,, thats not lazy

like i said in the OP, this would be for those who are unwilling to work ( @Flaming Pie ) and able-bodied (aka not retirement age).

i would never dream of putting hard working men and women into community service. just the indolent and overweight. for their own good.

Can't we just put them all on feeding tubes and get the cost per meal down to a couple pennies? These folks are wasting time eating when they could be looking for work.
