I got a plant that has the older, bigger leaves shading the small and young leaves underneath them. Should I cut them off to let the light get to them easier?

its my first grow so i wasnt sure if it would be ok to cut the bigger ,older leaves. I am growing to smoke

ok so you want to flower it and get the pot. not clone it. just put it under darkness for 12 hours a day and light 12 hours a day. Once the buds start to form you can trim some of the large fan leaves especially from the bottom. not to many though. that should be all you need to do. the more light on it during the 12 hours in light = more bud.
