Should I expect better QUALITY buds now that I've upgraded from CFL to HPS?

I know the yield will be better, but what about quality? With CFL's, I could never get that great of a smell/taste... It was always kinda blah. The only strain I could get a descent taste out of was kush. The rest just had a kinda harsh taste. And I've grown lemon skunk, kings kush, white widow, blue widow and a few more... but nothing like what I buy.

Opinions?

EDIT: And I'm sure it wasn't because of my growing skills.. I always used FFOF, and the plants were always 90%+ red hairs, with little to no yellowing of leaves all the way to harvest. And I always flushed before harvest...

Does a bear shit in the woods? Absolutely! I always recommend using MH AND HPS form seed to harvest, as I have tried every type of lighting known to modern man... Always use nice organic nutes, like worm castings, N-rich bat guana, liquid seaweed(even as a foliar spray), blood meal, fish emulsion(if u can find the kind that doesnt reek) during your vegatative period, and some P-rich bat guano, liquid seaweed(not as a foliar spray during flowering), bone meal, etc during flowering, and never over/under water or feed, and you will be most pleased with the results... Put sum pruning skills to use, and maintain a well-ventilated grow space.... I also use Sodium free seltzer water as a foliar spray during both phases as a CO2 booster, and hydrogen peroxide during both phases, as an oxygen boost to the roots, and always have wonderful, happy ladies who make my life so much better! They're just like human women- The better you treat them, the more shit you give them that they like and need, when they require it, and the more condusive you make their environment, the more she will make everything so much better in your life! But just dont try to fuck them, stick to the real flesh and blood ladies for that! lol!

And just because its harvest time, doesnt always mean its 4:20 just yet... For proper curing, I leave my pre-manicured colas hanging upside down in a cedar closet for 1-2 weeks, or until about 15% moisture is achieved(the stems snap and not just bend, when u test them),, and then I transfer finished product into mason jars for at least 2-3 weeks, "burping" them everyday for about an hour, to allow excess moisture to escape, and mold to NOT form on my sparkly green gold... And then itz on like a pot of neckbone, my friends... Bam! You have cured mj! And dont even get me started about hash-making and kief-collecting, and the procedures one must take with trim and whatnot to make quality cannabutter... Thatz another story for another day! Good luck! The lights u need arent that expensive, and will pay for themselves after the first grow, for sure!

CFL have better spectrum and a little uvb, so not you will not have 'better' buds. You should have more bud per watt, not better.

Try Rumple's harvest and curing guide. I use it and it works to perfection. My buds are always cured just right.

Basically, Cut each branch, trim off the bigger leaves, hang them for 72 hours, break it down into smaller buds, put in brown grocery sack opened for 4 days (rearrange them after the 2nd day to get even drying), then into jars, vent jars every day for an hour or so for the first two weeks, after that about once a week. I believe bud grown under HPS/MH has the potential to be more Potent than CFL. I belive more times than not, because usually a CFL plant is smaller, many times they are tiny & un-matured plants.

Also, Normally someone who can Afford better lighting can Afford better method of feeding/co2 enrichment. All around keeping a Perfect Enviro. You do not see to many Cfl grows with Environmental conrollers on the wall.

Yes if you have the all the other materials and take good care of them

MH/hps by all means.

Bottom line is a healthier plant will be more potent. In most cases, a plant grown under hps vs cfl will be healthier, and therefore more potent.
