Should I grow seeds found in brought deals, or go to a seed bank?

Ive found two seeds both from different types of weed ive brought from street dealers... Do you think I should start to grow them and hope there female or discard them and visit reputable seed bank. The weed in question that the seeds came from got me as high asa mother and that is why im tempted.2014-01-26 00.28.00.jpg

If you like mystery then go for the bag seeds, if it's from commercial weed it is most likely going to be high yielding, fast flowering, and controllable height.

If you're a gambling man just go with the bag seeds, odds are you'll have at least 1 female. But odds don't always go your way. I did 2 bag seeds my first time and got 2 males, but that's not to say you couldn't wind up with 2 girls. If you don't mind taking the risk go with the bag seeds, you'll save money. But obviously if you want the sure thing go with fem seeds, that's what I got now.

If you liked the weed you got the seeds from then go with those since they are free, in hand, and at least one (possibly both, depending how it was pollinated) of it's parents are green you know you like.

You're right about the yield part- I grew out some bagseed from so e shwag and it yielded ten ounces. But fast flowering? It was a Mexican sativa that flowered for 16 weeks, lol.

If you are a perfectionist and want to (almost) guarantee not to waste any time, just make a cheap seed order. I'm always let down with bagseed, unless it comes from a bag of dank but even then its probably a hermie.

Yeah but if the hermie was dank even with the seeds in it it shouldn't be too much of a problem right? I mean it's bothersome but not a deal breaker. And I'd bet that just as many seeds come from people not catching males fast enough as come from hermies, which gives you like a 50% shot at that hybrid vigor. And even with the hermies, most of those will just be plants that were stressed into self pollinating, and not true hermies, so they won't pass the gene. Just sayin :weed:

No harm in growing bag seeds. Just don't go thinking you will get 2 females and 4 oz's a plant. but it will teach you A LOT about cannabis and give you experience

I have a couple hundred GDP seeds from SOIK not catching a couple boys in time and accidentally pollinating the whole crop, they are a couple years old but every few month I germinate one or two of them to make sure they're still viable and they're still holding strong, haven't had one fail to crack yet, after seeing these pics I'm for sure gonna try to grow out a few this summer and see if I can find any nice, vigorous phenos hiding amongst them hahaha.

Im gonna go for it..... the weed was realy good quality and a great smoke and like its been said being a newbie it should be a good experience. Wish me luck and I will also run a journal on progress ive made.

Good luck! I would try to find at least 3 more seeds, see if any friends have been saving seeds. You'll be thanking yourself when the first 2 are males and you're 2 months in :P

How was the quality of the Mexican buds it produced?

I was gonna say since they were from Mexico but grown here that really they're Chicano buds, but I was worried it would come off as a little bit racist. Spent way too much time thinking the whole thing over to not post though. :bigjoint::peace:

Thats not a bad call gettin a few more seeds it is the issue I was worrying about putting thease through there paces and have them turn out to be male, I think I might have to ask friends for any they have got and maby aquire some feminised seeds just in case the sacs appear lol.

Yeah, but good solid genes are way less likely to Hermie, even with the stress. I was really lucky my first run, I had like 8/10 bagseed wind up female, and they turned out really nice. One shot nanners but I didn't wind up with any seeds somehow. They weren't exactly bagseed tho; I have a buddy who has been growing some decent outdoor commercial grade for years and keeping seeds from good plants and culling the shitty ones, etc, so they were somewhat stabilized genes.

Btw nittygritty, that's the best bag seed argument one ever seen! But that all has to be bag seed from bags of dank. After all, og kush and sour d were bred from a bag seed that was grown out, named Chem dawg.

Both seeds will be female
i would agree with this for the most part.

imo usually when you get a bag and it has a few beans or more in most buds, then it was hit with 1 or more males. you should have 50/50 mix of fem/male and still have a chance for a herm.

but when you only find 1 or 2 beans in a good size bag, then it was most likely hit with a herm. so yes they will probly be female, they could have a chance of spitting out some nanners.

just like any other bean you grow, you still check the plant often for signs of nanners, pests and overall health of the plant.

i started out using bagseed with good results, but the odds are better getting something dank with some good genetics.
