so im growing a sativa strain which i dont know the flowering time of. so im trying to go by jus looking at the trichs and hairs.

shes starting her 7th week of flower, the buds feel dense and really sticky and stink. about 20% of the hairs have turned orange. and the trichs are about 60/40 clear/cloudy and no signs of amber yet. I want that high that hits u fast all in the face at first then goes straight for ur body.

what color should the trichomes be when i start flushing? and what color should they be when i chop?

i really need some advice on this because i dont wannt flush/rip it too early, nor do i wanna do it too late.

your replies are greatly appreciated!

Seven weeks of flower with dense sticky buds sounds fast for a sativa, so you are a lucky camper. You might have a little trouble with the body high part though with that strain, as it is noted for it's uplifting high, not so much a body stone. To get as close as you want to that type of high, wait until 10% of the trichs are amber, which will give you more of a body stone, but I wouldn't wait that long personally. I would cut it at the first sign of amber, which the way it sounds should be in couple of weeks. If you really want to flush, which I think is a waste of time personally, I guess you could start when it's 50/50 milky clear. My advice, skip the flush and focus on just seeing amber because there's no telling how long it takes for it to show up. It could be 3 weeks. Have fun

The above advice from Jim is about when you should harvest, not when you should flush. When to flush (when no problems are present) is probably a matter of opinion. You do want the soil fairly dry the moment you harvest, so you would want to flush no sooner than 10 days before harvest.

I generally do two flushes as a proactive measure to prevent salts, nutrients, and other inhibitors from locking up the ph: once about a week before i flip the switch to 12/12, and once anytime within 3 weeks of harvest.

Also be sure your technique for flushing is solid and works.
