Should I worry about the heat my QB lights make? Agro Max 550 Raw, SF4000

Hey guys. I’m new to lighting in general and read some things about the sf4000 specifically running hot. I haven’t had any issues yet, but they also have not been turned max brightness. 2 fans on the wall I decided to use each one for blowing some air onto the lights to keep them running cooler in general I figured that’s ideal.

Turned to about 50% they put out a good amount of heat. I don’t have a heat gun to check but I can touch them comfortably. This is since I added the fans, they were significantly hotter without.

will I be ok with just turning up the fans in flower when the lights are maxing out? Just want to make sure to keep the lights in good health any suggestions welcome the room stays below 80 at all times. Will likely be low 70’s in flower.

If you think that they're running hot, take temperatures of the heat sinks & drivers at 75 & 100% (let the temps settle) and send the data to the vendor & ask them if it's OK.
I run my LED's at around 80 - 90%, heatsinks and drivers are quite warm to the touch but not hot.

Good luck

I'm always surprised at how hot those meanwell drivers get, I mean they get hotter than my CMH ballast by far. Spider Farmers do get hot because they really don't have much of a heat sink. Just an FYI, low 70s is not optimal for LED lights during flower, the plants will grow better closer to 80. HID lights are fine to run in a cooler room because of all the IR they constantly pump out.

Thanks a bunch guys, I can easily keep it closer to 80 in there and will strive for that. The fans really helped the sf4000 specifically to cool down. Alittle bit of air went a long way.

I think I will be allright, they never got hot enough to where it could burn me I made sure. I wish they had heat sinkfins but I don’t think you can add those on later they have to be one solid piece.

the agromax are abit better because the driver is mounted on some small rubber stubs that keep it off the board.

I think I’m just going to try and switch to some bar lights anyways, the lights owner want em back all of a sudden (typical).
