Simple home grow?

Looking at the guides here, they all seem to be oriented towards people doing large grow-ops with many plants. Could someone direct me to a guide intended for someone who just wants to grow a plant or two for personal use and not drop 100's of dollars on equipment?

Get off your ass and read the forums. There are lots of stealth PC Case growers, mini-cabinet growers, closet growers on here. Hell just searching for "stealth" would probably give you almost 100% results for small grows.

I have a system similar than what you are trying to do, just have yourself a veg and a flowering box with 1 to 2 plants max at a time if your not trying to do a huge grow op. I have my flower grow cabinet which consists of a 10$ dollar fan 15$ 68watt cfl(2700k) and a 10$42 cfl(2700k) and its dimensions are 30x20x12, and the veg box is similar in dimensions except the lighting is 2 27watt cfls (5500k).. your not gonna get pounds out of this system but you wiil get atleast an ounce of some good homegrown if done correctly

i have a small op for 4 or 5 plants that i got less than 350 usd into rite now thats even ordering sum pricey seeds i have a 100w hps with a 100w mh reflector and both ballasts im selling for 75usd great for 1 or two units i mean your not getn an elbow per plant but beats an aerogarden so if you find deals like i have found its easy just shop around

I've been reading shit and watching videos for the last 3ish hours and I just want someone to get me a bit of experience with growing before I start worrying about PH levels, painting my closet white, nutrition formulas and all of that fun stuff. I don't care if my yield is garbage, I'm just looking to get started now.

Searching for stealth did bring up a lot of stuff relevant to what I'm looking for, so thank you for that.

You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of your setup would you? This is pretty much what I'm attempting to do at this point.

an emergency blanket from walmart cost 4.00$ its better than white paint, and i read every day for about a month before i started my first grow i takes alot of research.

Thanks for the tip. I see that theres a lot to learn but I work much better if I try something and learn from my mistakes rather than trying to know it all and put everything into one shot.

Hey there, it's my first time time, too. I did a little reading before I got started, the grow guides in the newbie section are where you want to start probably. I've got an area probably 2ft x 4ft, threw some plastic on the floor and hung a T5 flouro strip from the ceiling with nylon rope so it can be raised as the plants grow, a few clamp-on CFL fixtures as well. Stuck a fan in there for circulation and wind simulation to strengthen the stems and that's about all there is to it. Cost me about $70 for the lights and everything else I already had laying around the house (pots, soil, plant food, etc). Plants are doing GREAT, in my opinion, with very little effort or money spent.

It's a process of trial and error, really... a learning experience, if you will.

Some basic info to keep you from making the same mistakes most new growers make:

Don't use Miracle Gro anything

Don't use a soil that has time released fertilizers in it - I put half my plants in soil and half in a sphag/vermiculite mix. The sphag/verm plants were absolutely thriving and the soil plants were struggling. I used Black Magic potting soil and wouldn't recommend it. I've now repotted the soil plants into the vermiculite mix and they're doing much better now.

CFLs are cheap, don't use a lot of electricity and don't put out very much heat - all awesome things for small, first time grow.

Anyway, you don't need a bunch of expensive equipment or anything. Enough lighting and proper feeding/watering is all that's really necessary.

Good luck!

Yeah, I've been reading that. A lot to take in.

I'm going to buy some materials to make my grow cabinet once I get paid, I'll post some pics and see what you guys think.

Thanks for the help.

Never heard of eco gro, but I googled it just now and it looks okay.

The reason I say don't use miracle gro is that I've heard experienced growers say it's no good for cannabis plants.

Here's something I actually am still working on, just bought a few inexpensive supplies today for a very small scale, one-plant growbox. Maybe it will inspire something :) 1600 lumen CFL's 6$ a pair where I bought them, sockets and adapters - 3$ a piece, styrofoam cooler - 8$, and I'm sure you can find some cheap fans to install for good ventilation.

Going to mount the light fixtures in the sides, install fans, and then transplant from my smaller pot into this guy, and easy access cover is nice! :D (+ it's airtight)

Wow Fractus, I think I'm going to try that now. You don't think the heat from the lights would cause melting/deformation of the styrofoam do you?
