I made a grow diary topic which was basically one long post as it was a copy and paste from another sites forums i go to mainly and thought id share it here. It said it would have to wait for moderation and its been ages. So wondering if a mod can look over this situation. Cheers.

Hi all.

First a little about me.

I started growing things earlier this year. First was a cherry tom plant then chilli jalapenos mostly, then i got some seeds from a scotch bonnet and bell pepper and growing them. Cloned the cherry tom so have two now.

Recently did a logo for a site and he gave me some seeds, 1 lowryder #2 and a kiwi skunk both were feminized ones.

So i thought id give it ago and grow em.

Im mainly a windowcill grower but have a cupboard i guess i will use for the seeds.

I have on order should arrive soon.

1x 125 dual spectrum CFL, *removed no linking to other sites* was about 20 quid. Duno if i get the hanger with it or not but a mate will send me one for postage if it doesnt come with one.

1x 24hr plug timer few quid off the bay.

Thats about it lol.

Need to find out very very cheap way to make a reflector for the light and something for the insides of the cupboard so it reflects the light.



I started germinating the lowryder on 22nd aug. I germinator in my pc as its mint for doing so for all my seeds to date. Took 3 days to see something come through the soil. Its now on my windowcill till my growroom is sorted its about 4-5cm so far and true leaves just breaking through.

I put the kiwi one in on the 25th aug, no sign of it yet but still early days.

Im getting advice from the guy who gave me the seeds. But any advice offered would be great.

One thing i do not know is how important a fan is in a grow room, would i need one if so whats a good very cheap one to get and how often does it need to be on etc etc.

Ok the grow light has arrived this morning. It is one big mother of a bulb i had no idea it would be this huge.

Need to get the hanger off a mate too as it didnt come with one even tho mate said it should have.

I have a metal breadbin, the slide lid would be mint as a reflector i think for it, but how would one go about fitting it to it? Im no diy person btw.

Got 2 5ltr pots as suggested by my mate. Big mothers aint they. Had no idea. haha.. Might need to get more multi purpose soil from netto again, the stuff with the added john inns stuff. Just a few quid tho. When should they be moved from the 3in pots there currently growing in you reckon?

Little bit of growth on each. The LR#2 is about 3" high now i think and the KWS is about 1.5" ish.

Its all been natural sunlight as they are on the windowcill till i get my hanger for the 125w dual spec light.

Started the lr on 22nd aug the ks on the 25th.

Heres some pics of the light im going to be using, dual spectrum 125w cfl and some pics of the wardrobe i hope to use.





Thinking of painting some 16" pizza boxes white matt to be reflective side panels inside, duno about reflector for light yet, and how to wire it up, duno about fans yet either.

Repotted the LR2 as it was getting a bit tall and too thin on the stem so potted it up to 12cm pot so i could soil up the stem for support.

Got a hanger off a mate but posty broke it. Ok got the superglue and with some creativity i have the light on for now. Hope it goes ok, seems rather secure did some hard tugs to make sure. Things left is to get potted in to 5gl pots, sort inside reflectivity and block the light bits (do i need to do this if i live alone?) and get my reflector sorted and somehow think of a way to fix it to the light.

Potted them in final pots. Light i know would have been nicer if it was sideways but it will do for a few days i hope till i get to b&q.

Ok setup a reflection system untill i can do a better one when i can get some better equipment. Hope it will do for a short time. And yeah i know the reflector is crappy lol, piece of card with garden seedling sticks for support wrapped in motherboard wrapper lol.

Hope the cellotape holds for a few days.

Fans noisy, i tried dampening the sound by placing bubble wrap under it but no go.

Just before i was adding the reflective stuff i noticed it was rather warm in there. This btw was after i turned the fan off at 6pm. So looks like i may need to keep the fan on while lights on, 18/6 damn. Was preying i could just use the fan from dinner time 12 till 6pm, as was gona just use it for stem strengthening.

This is all in my bedroom so duno how im gona sleep lol. Tho i have the timer (using 2 way square shaped adapter so the fan and light use same timer which i hope is ok.) And the timers set to go off at 1am till 7am so shouldnt be too bad least i hope so.

Ok poped over b and q, couldnt find mylar or cheap sheets of aluminium but did find this stuff u put behind radiators which looked the job and was a 5er for 4 sheets 1m/s Got some duct tape kinda reflective tho not great but anyhow heres some pics of new reflection system which i think works great. Got a sheet left i was thinking of a reflector for the light out of it depends how my idea goes on paper first.

Got bit more chain too gona attempt to make light sideways later tomorrow not tonite tho think i did enough.

Camera couldnt catch the light in this one hence dark.

Also just bought some yo yo hangers for 6 quid, bit pricy but should help lower and upper the light i think.

Them yoyo hanger things arrived today. Tried to set my light horrizontal but didnt work due to weight balance. Works fine on the cord loop i did from previous hanging but when i use the other hanger and attach it to the light filaments and the first hanger just climbs up so its impossible to get them both at the same level at the same time grrr.

Maybe these need a reflector

Ok had a thought and might have pulled it off.

Light is sideways, best i can get it and lowerst i can get it covering the plants. The thing on top is one of those reflector sheets like the sides, so its above the light and reflecting the light back down.

Got my perlite this morning so im hoping i added it ok. Had to take the plants out first giving enough cover to avoid roots. Took em out poped next to the pot on paper. Started adding perlite from bottom up in drills and mixing with hands. Did a hand full in each drill (dug bit with hand to bottom).

Hope i didnt hurt the plants too much. Should be ok tho i hope.

Another update. The lr2 seems to be going well but i think i must have shocked the kiwi or somit, when i took it out to add perlite to the soil, as it hasnt grown much like the lr2 has. Also there is a small case of burn on the kw as i didnt dry the leaf properly when i was watering it and some water got on the leafs.

After this pic i bumped the pots up to be closer to the light with 2 dvd boxes each under em. Hope it helps a bit. Before the lr2 was about 4 inch away and the kw about 3, so knock them values to about lr2 is 2.5 and kw 2 or just under.

Temps and humidity are about 31c aprox and about 50-60 humidity.

LR2 [24 days] [is the yellowing and dying look of the embryo leaves anything to worry about?]

I think the lr2 has sexed and is a female, tho was feminized so glad it did turn into one.

Temps are about 30.1 and hum is 40ish. I think the humidity is a bit low, how do i get it up to 50+ or do i not really need to?

Just had my first move of the bulb up. Them yoyo hangers are nice. So nice to watch my plants everyday seeing whats changed if anything etc.

Just took a look at my lovelys. There getting so big now, still small but bushy i mean. Cant wait till there about a ft tall at least.

Just smelled the lr2 when i opened the wardrobe door. Was a very low odour imo tho i dont have the best of smells but still it was only noticable when i opened the door today. It smelled great, sort of tea and fruit i think is how i would describe it. Never smelled a can plant before so hard to tell if its a skunk smell or not and i aint had skunk i dont think before haha.

Anyhow its a lovely smell if i didnt know what they were id never have thought of them as weed plants. So thats one worry off my mind. If it gets stronger tho i guess ill have to have some way to lower it i guess tho prefer a nossle from the plant to my nose as its that good of a smell hehe.

Also did the trick to get humidy up with cup of water next to them on the bottom of the wardrobe and it worked to my surprise as i didnt think the water would have evaporated that much. So instead of just a little water i did a 3 quaters full small plastic cup worth. Hope it stays roughly between 50-70 humidy i think is the right amount.

The kiwi is coming along great its almost as big as the lr2 now and the stem is much thicker than the lr2 as its been getting more of the fan force than lr2 which i probs should swap it round to strengthen up the lr2 now.

Think i might do a big bowl of water to help humidity as small cups dont go long.
